Not sure why that is controversial all of a sudden? Parent’s kid is at risk of getting killed, parent takes extreme action to protect the kid. if she let them kill her son half of you would be saying dumb shit like “libirul wumen kill own kidz, writurz meant this”.

Her kid wasn't at risk of being killed by Hal !

He suggested they move somewhere isolated to keep him safe and she disagreed because that would make him miss his championship football game.

That is like shooting the firefighter trying to get you and your child out of a burning apartment because your kid's favorite show is on.

Everyone knows this show was written by morons. It sucks because you want to see more shows like this get made but the jackasses they hire to make them always ruin it. Everything has to be black and gay. Like doctor who. Even this show. No tits but they have to throw some cocks and man ass in just because. Even the hedge knight is guilty of it.

Gemini summary:

The video covers deleted scenes, alternate endings, and backstory reveals for the HBO DCU series Lanterns, as well as details about the canceled Greg Berlanti/Marc Guggenheim Green Lantern project.

Lanterns Season 1: Alternate Ending & Deleted Scenes

  • The "Dark Lantern" and Ring Charge: The lantern power battery John Stewart uses at the finale is confirmed as the "Dark Lantern" [01:01], infused with both green willpower and yellow fear spectrum energy (the comic "yellow impurity") [01:13]. The writers noted this will influence John going forward into a more hardcore operative, though not an evil Yellow Lantern [01:34].
  • Comic-Accurate Suit Cut from Finale: In the original script/vision, John Stewart was meant to wear a tuned-up physical Green Lantern suit modeled after his comic look [01:53 ] when meeting Guy Gardner at the signal [02:21 ]. This was cut because the writers wanted to emphasize John rejecting the Guardians and the Corps to operate as an independent contractor, making the official Corps uniform contradict his arc [02:46 ].
  • Cut Episode 5 Battle & Green Lantern Cameos: An alternate cut of Episode 5 featured a massive battle in Rushville against Manhunter Zoe where multiple off-world Lanterns—including Kilowog—arrived to help contain the darkness [04:36 ]. In the aftermath, the arriving Corps members openly admonished Hal Jordan, contextualizing why no Lanterns defended him during his subsequent trial [05:34 ].
  • Zoe's Extended Origin Montage: Episode 5 originally had an extended sequence depicting Zoe's creation millions of years ago, the Manhunter massacre of Sector 666, the Guardians' purge, and a montage of her destroying worlds over millennia while evading capture [06:07 ]. It was cut primarily for runtime [06:53 ].

The Canceled HBO/Arrowverse Green Lantern Series

  • Multi-Era Setting: Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti’s previously developed series (pitched under the working title Emerald Knights) was structured across multiple eras, primarily 1941 and 1984 [09:04 ].
  • Lead Characters:
    • 1941: Alan Scott as a closeted gay FBI agent [12:18 ].
    • 1984: Finn Wittrock starring as a serious, non-comedic Guy Gardner [10:34 ], paired with an original Earth Green Lantern named Bree Jarda [11:17 ].
    • Hal Jordan and John Stewart were excluded because the previous film regime had reserved them for DCEU theatrical projects [11:49 ].
  • Cosmic Scope & Opening Sequence: The original pilot began with a massive, high-budget space battle featuring the Lantern Corps in full cosmic action [10:06 ], frequent visits to Oa, and comic-accurate mechanical Manhunters [09:54 ].
  • Cancellation Reasons: Estimated to cost $250M+ across 8 episodes [13:04 ], HBO executives pushed back on the space-heavy CGI budget and repeatedly requested a more grounded, True Detective-style Earthbound premise [13:34 ]. This eventually led to the cancellation and the redevelopment into James Gunn's rebooted DCU series [07:28 ].

I'm really surprised how many people giving this show a pass. I quit after the financial episode and thought the Ryan Renolds wasn't so bad

The big questions, did his brotherj keep his funding for his rap career, did John get his contract for shelters?

Unclear - depends how much money he had left after some retarded use of cash. Probably no, I can't imagine illegitimate green lantern vigilante pays that well.

For the second no, the 'colonel', like any rational person, took him being at a funeral as a deadly insult and killed the deal. Apparently the dude was so insulted he showed up in person so he could dramatically hang up on him and then walk out. Or they didn't ask to reschedule due to funeral ? Either way, at least one of these parties is retarded.

the show started off strong with a True Detective vibe but after episode 5 it stopped giving a shit. Its too bad reading about the unfilmed stuff, more info on the Manhunter constructs would have helped a lot, I was so confused by their power levels and capabilities.

The show portrays them as both unstoppable killing machines with infinite tech OR easily killed organic beings depending on what the plot needed. The kid breaks Sinestro (off screen lol) out of presumably the most guarded jail in the universe, that seemed like an insane plot point to yadda yadda.

A decorated/disgraced hero dies from a gunshot wound and not a single agency investigates the bullet that killed him or what gun fired it? thats like REQUIRED by federal and state law lol

more lanterns woulda been nice, you get zero sense of scale of the lantern corp or the universe from this show. Could a manhunter impersonate a kryptonian and be as powerful as Superman on Earth? Why wouldn't a manhunter impersonate a dog or whale or something and just chill out if it just wants to hide in peace.

it's a shame, i thought kyle chandler was really good, best hal jordan? i mean obviously lulz faggot ass ryan renolds, but every time he had to share screen time w/ the nog, it just drags down the whole scene. it's pretty much this way w/ any buddy cop white and nog pairing, it's been a long time since we had a good rigs and murtauh

I like reallifefakewizards video on this.

it really highlights an issue. some of this is mysterys for future, and some is just nitpicks. but most of it is not. most of it really is plot holes and serious problems with teh storytelling.

The mystery and story doesn't make sense. you can not go back after the finale, and explain why anyone did anything. These questions don't have answers. things just happen. A good story can explain these things. the motivations and logic for the pieces moving should line up.

but you can't do that here. the townsfolks actions and motivations don't make sense. the manhunters don't make sense. Things happen, but you can't explain why they happened via any sensible motivations or logic.

the metal detector is a great example of the writers just being morons and not actually thinking about ANYTHING they are writing and the director also not paying attention.
using a metal tire iron to pull a plastic grill of a car, to use the plastic grill to see if a metal detector is working.. when its a day later and theres no reason for it to even be on in the first place.

or as flfw noted. what is the assassin aliens plan here exactly? genocide race and they are suicide bombing. thats counter productive isn't it? going after the manhunter instead of hiding from it. warning tick on bomb.. who are they? etc. None of this is thought out. they just needed suicide bombers, and didn't think about how any of the set up logic works.

Not sure why that is controversial all of a sudden? Parent’s kid is at risk of getting killed, parent takes extreme action to protect the kid. if she let them kill her son half of you would be saying dumb shit like “libirul wumen kill own kidz, writurz meant this”.

The caveat here is the kid is part alien that could wipe shit out, which creates the classic ethical dilemma of “needs of few vs needs of many” and “nature vs nurture” that has been a staple of fiction forever

Sure, that doesn’t absolve her of murder and consequences, but given the fact they want to let the potentially world ending kid have a normal life, tossing his mom in prison would probably not be conducive to making sure the kid turns out to be good vs evil

Jfc you take the most retarded stances in anything you perceive to be political. How the fuck does murdering the guy who is trying to help them, in your retarded brain, turn into "protecting the kid"?

Sure that makes no sense and doesn't absolve her of anything, but people on the left say it's good writing so I support it!
