yes and no. they intentionally made it look retarded.
he is a gymteacher. amusingly he is a Liberal arts major, with degrees in pysch and education. hal and guy were the prime candidates for Abin Sur's ring. Hal got it literally just because he was closer at the time.
normal hair at first. Then, its supposed to be more of a crew cut, then bowl cut. even when actually drawn a bowl cut, its much much higher cut.
Fillian is also 55, and Gardner is more like 35.

I find it impressive they ruined John somehow. He was always the more boring GL But he had his thing but now he stole a ring, got a lantern and tells the guardians to deal with it lol? Also Guy wouldn't allow any of the stuff that happened

im not sure how much is Fillion and how much it was James Gunn. Gunn clearly was a big part of the bad bowl cut. he 100% thought it was funny.
Why is he Blond, not a red head? no idea.

Yeah, it's like Fillion half committed to the bowl cut. If you're going to do it do it proper Gardner style with all that involves.
The Gardner suit reminds me of when Max Lord was financing/running the JL (around the time of the Checkmate story arc) and I think they had costumes something like that, but I can't find images now.
I have another couple key takes about Fillion and Green Lantern. Keep in mind I love Fillion as an actor, he has great comedic timing, and does truly love the source material.
- He's the right age now to perfectly slot into being a slightly older Hal Jordan. Why the hell didn't they use an older Hal in the "Justice gang"?? Then intro Guy with an actor young and in shape enough to pull it off? Then Fillion as Jordan does the series and sets up Stewart?
- Oh , of course, Jordan wouldn't be "James Gunny" enough for Gunn, so he had to do Gardner. But still wanted Fillion, who realized with his 50-something year old dad bod there's no way he could pull off the comic accurate Gardner suit so they cook up this "relaxed fit white leather jacket" for him.
Of course I could be crazy.
