Yep. Listen to Sanrith when it comes to the biz side of things, and shoot me a msg if you can't figure out why your water is cloudy or you cant get rid of that sticky algae. Good luck though!

Yeah 50 is what I've been told. Thankfully I have 3 years of pool cleaning experience + years of Waterpark operations. All I have to figure out now is the tax laws and finding decent suppliers. Also marketing & social medias of course.

Long story short my employer didn’t want to continue business where I live in Louisiana. We expanded from Texas.
it's gonna be a lot of word of mouth as well, also start thinking about "associated services" to get yourself in the door.

like what do you pool ppl use often? chemicals, i'm guessing bleach? how can you associate that into a service? maybe mix in pool shock and degreaser and offer a garbage can service, do pool guys have a pressure washer? say you pressure wash cans and you also do pools too

Yeah I hear most marketing in this business is word of mouth. Google is probably the next big one. Pressure washing would be good additional service.

Right, I’ll have to pass on the IED business.

Landscaping/pools is the only combo I've ever seen. And even then you're going to need different trucks for each.

Just stick with the pools, do a good job, be concientious, show up at the same time on the same day every week for everyone and word of mouth will happen.

Every pool guy truck should have the following:

Granular shock (calcium hypochlorite)

Tabs (trichlor)

Muriatic acid

Sodium bicarbonate

Soda ash

Cyanuric acid

Dry sodium bromide

Bag of DE

A few bags of salt

Taylor test kit

Optional: in the winter you can switch to a liquid sodium hypochlorite (concentrated bleach) if your calcium levels are running a little high from shocking the pool all summer.

Don’t like how the pool looks in our new house. Want to redo all the patio (it’s old pea stone) and the pool surround. Needs to be something modern and clean to match the house reno.

Also want to redo the pool itself with crushed glass or whatever else is actually durable and looks nice. Its currently some plaster or something and if I use the net to get leaves on the bottom it marks up the pool. Open to ideas on material

20,000 gallons and goes to 8 feet at the end.

This is an example of “modern” that would match the house.

How often should a pool service clean the filter cartridge? Literally everyone I am calling is saying different things. The pool builder said without an enclosure it should be cleaned weekly. Some cleaning companies are saying they only clean the filter once a month.

I wonder the same thing all the time. The company that cleans our pool does a great job weekly; but I see accumulated shit in there after they leave and it makes me think they don't want to spend 5 extra minutes doing it. The pool school people said weekly.

Mondo forms (concrete squares) and turf are popular and look really great. Heres one I did last year.

They installed an inadequate filter for your pool. I did warn you that it was going to be a problem. It "needs" to be cleaned every week or two to keep up, but no service guy is just going to clean it every week as part of normal service. That single cartridge is also going to wear out quick and will need to be replaced every year or so. Especially if you use it a lot.

The Jandy filters I mentioned need to be cleaned quarterly (four times a year).
