I've had problems with this while pregnant or nursing - hormones cause less natural lubrication. I like JO H2O, a water based lube. It may not last as long as silicone, but can just be reapplied if needed and isn't sticky or greasy.

She may have used a silicone or oil based lube before and had a bad reaction to it.
