Looks wholly unnecessary, but more expansive then Denzel's version (and that one was a remake!)

I'll give it a try. Maybe they will use some kind of formula for the amount of people Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's charcter will kill or mutilate:

(episode number) raised to the power of 3.1415?

Seven episode season as opposed to a movie, more time to work with but it's Netflix.

Man on Fire is one of my all time favorite movies. I'm not watching this Dollar General Netflix trash.

You remake bad movies, not great ones. Personally, I would not want to play a role that had already been done by Denzel Washington. Your chances of looking good compared to him are not good.

Got bored and threw it on.

Could have called this Max Payne 3 the series. If you played Max Payne 3 and finished it and saw the Man on Fire movie, you can skip this. Nothing new added.

Lead does a good job and his performance isn't a throwaway-- but it's not the movie. Tonally, this was written by writers who just copied Payne 3 when he went to Brazil. That's the best way to describe the tone. Using the cutscenes to write the screenplay. The way Brazil is portrayed and filmed is almost exactly the same tonally, and some of the characters are so cardboard they feel taken directly from a cutscene without any real development.
