This is also Bungie which basically had a $100 per year sub to Destiny. So they will be asking for every penny they can get. Cash shops, seasonal $$ and expansion $$.

"Seasonal updates will introduce new gameplay, including gear, Runner shells, zones, events, and more, which will be free for all players to access or earn–no expansions or DLC required."

Unless seasonal updates turn this into a PVE experience or drastically change the focus of the game, this game will not survive I don't think. I played 6 or so hours this weekend, and honestly, only really enjoyed about half an hour of it. Perhaps it's just me and my preferences, but even if I liked the genre I found it all incredibly boring. 20 minutes running around, 4 second firefights. The flow of the game just felt off and very untested.

They did craft, and clean up the game world and it looks great and after some tweaking, the shooting also felt very close to Destiny. The classes all felt good, too. But even on successful runs with epic/legendary items I didn't really care or feel even the slightest sense of gratification. I guess I don't really understand how the game as it played over the weekend is meant to reward your time in a gratifying way? I won't be buying this, so not sure why I'm even posting this but just curious what the interest here is but it's clearly over my head (other than just enjoying the graphics/gunplay, which I contend are excellent and much better to my eyes than say Arc Raiders).

The first 3 maps are a gameplay loop to build up keys for the big extraction event on the final map. You can't get the keys from random drops, they come from PVE events like Lockdown on Dire Marsh where you need to stop the event 3x across the map. You can probably get keys from the Warden boss on Perimeter, etc. The third map Outpost is much more condensed and forces action. The PVE in this is actually unavoidable if you intend to play in the endgame.

If you understand one extraction shooter you understand them all. See what you can get and hold on to it as long as you can.

Seeing an odd effect of the Marathon debacle. Which is now helping the sales of the genre with Arc Raiders moving up again and trending up. My thought is that people refunded that garbage and are using the credit for Arc Raiders - considering the timing and genre identity of both the games.

Marathon trailing two free to play games (One of them being Rainbow 6 Siege lol) and a $69.99 single player release, with a launch date in two days, is horrid.
