Bungie execs got fucking rich off that shit. It was all planned. They knew they were doomed. Remember the CEO showing off his fucking car collection on twitter while they were laying off actual devs and artists?

I mean think about it, why the fuck would they sell to Sony when just a few years before they were all about buying all the shares and trying to get from under Activision? It does not make any sense. So yeah my theory is that they knew they doomed the fucking future and wanted an out, and that out was sony.

Bungie would sell to Sony because Sony was willing to pay far too much because either Sony's executives thought they were behind the ball on live service games or Sony's board thought they were behind the ball on live service games, or Sony's excuse to their board for some quarter was that Sony was behind on live service games, none of which are exactly the same statement.

I think Bungie's involvement with both Activision and Sony shows that Bungie learned it's _extremely_ difficult to be an indie AAA publisher nowadays (see also Epic's current meltdown) , and their preferred business model of "Give us a bunch of money and leave us alone for a couple years" is very tough to swing in the current era.

It isn't very entertaining to watch is one issue there - I watched Shroud play in a bit when it was new and it lacked the watchability of a game like Arc Raiders or even Tarkov.

Even if that game wasn’t diversified more than a NYC commie meet up, I’m ready for that fucking art style to die.

Sony needs Wolverine to land with a pretty big splash. Sony Woman Face probably won’t wreck that one, but they need to get back to basics on first party shit. I find it interesting that you can have a decent argument that Nintendo easily won the recent console gen (yeah yeah. Who plays and buys consoles, arrrgh mateys, etc parachute comments).

I’m actually gonna go out on a limb and bet it won’t. I think that’s the reason it was effectively delayed. I think they’re doing some last minute scrubbing or muting. It takes time in games to flip this and it’s very obvious that there was a cultural correction. But I’ve been wrong before.

It's a been a full decade. Every major IP from the Blockbuster Era on: Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC, Dr Who, LOTR, is a smoldering ruin because of DEI/Woke casting and hiring, as well Activist/Ideological Messaging and Plotting in lieu of story telling. They can't make a Blade movie because just having a Black Dhampyr killing vampires isn't enough; it didn't have enough female empowerment and Woke heft to pass Marvel internal commissars.

I hope you're right but the fact studios in every industry are still releasing things like Mixtape don't give me confidence that these die hards have fully realized yet that people literally aren't buying their crap and are happy to push their pseudo religion with other people's jobs and money.

AAA in the west needs to be purged of the activists. Get back to making games for gamers, not messages that no one wants to hear about gay queer and tranny shit. The people have spoken, no one is buying that shit and the sales show it. The more woke the shit is the more it fails. And sadly Bungie was already there. It might take them longer but the Japs will realize. And quickly shift. But these AAA behemoths here in the west are all dying. Some slowly and some quickly.

This really hits home when you go play an older Halo title. While those games were far from perfect they were real and fun. The future sucks.

To be fair, some of this is because you're watching Shroud. He's very good at video games, but he has the charisma of a fucking door knob.

SBI has it's fingerprints all over it though and the developer actively defended SBI. This was as of 7 months ago so it would take more than that to redevelop art and story lines if their BS was ingested. This one may have been too far along to fix. The fact Sony and Insomniac are dead quiet on it doesn't bode well either. They know it would impact sales. Either way I won't touch it until I hear from those that completed the game.
