Uh...if I'm playing Marathon, I want to play an extraction shooter even if it's PVE. What a bunch of retards.

This is Bungie trying to save ass.

They KNOW they have failed on every promise made to Sony, and are trying hard to not get snapped.

Oh I know, but all they had to do is keep the PVE'ers in their own sandbox. I was looking forward to the mode. Now I could care less.

Asking for a fully separate PVE sandbox in an extraction shooter is pretty retarded.

This new mode seems like a pretty good way to introduce baby bitches to one of the best maps ever made though. Will still allow you to buy high tier gear to take into real matches.

You say this like anyone could give a flying about Marathon or Bungie. They fucked up, fucked it up again with this mode, and are a bunch of fuck ups fucking themselves out of the industry - which is long overdue.

I'll try it out, but it does seem odd to not have items to bring back. I've said before that Marathon could do alright if it followed the Witchfire model, more like a rogue-lite, but even Witchfire has items you bring back for crafting.

Seems to me like a Hades type gameplay loop for the mode. Each run you get to raise your baseline a bit by upgrading the sponsor kit. If you already regularly run the map and have beaten the boss sure no big deal but this will allow most people to play with things they'd never otherwise have an opportunity to see in a sort of trial mode. The currency is also gonna be able to buy things for regular modes, so, that functionally sounds identical to being able to take out crafting mats in Witchfire.

I don't see a problem adding a pve mode to an extraction shooter, I'm guessing arc raiders has a lot of players that play it that way. Having that mode would have probably bridged the gap to get destiny 2 players interested in marathon. But at this point it feels like it's way too late, who wants to invest in a game that could shut down in a month if numbers don't improve and already chopping their staff in half?

I enjoy all the people in the comments still trying to blame everything on Sony. Company shot itself in the dick under three different overlords. Sometimes the "artist" is the fuck up, not "the man"

Seriously - it is like Bungie and some of their shithead followers (DEI morons) are trying to sway the opinion that this was somehow Sony's fault. If anything, Sony should take blame for not firing these assholes when they could have and not given them free reign after a billions of dollars investment. But this is par for the course with these fucktwits and progressive fucks that work at places like this. Blame someone else and never take personal accountability. Bungie fucking sucks and it is their fault. Not to mention all this fake outrage of Destiny 3 clamouring and tell Sony you want it. Did they see that half the expansions were dogshit and the last year was a complete fuckery? The only expansion that was good was Witch Queen and The Final Shape. Lightfall was a fucking joke of split content out of an expansion to fuck over customers. Shadowkeep and Beyond Light were shit. People literally got strung along over years for the main release which was good, then only getting two expansions worth a crap over the course of the entire life of the product.

Utnayan is right. I loved Destiny for what it was at the core originally, but so many mistakes and half-assed expansions from Bungie doomed Destiny. 1 step forward and 3 steps back pretty much every.single.time year after year. If Destiny 3 ever sees the light of day it needs to be more like Borderlands as a self-contained open world with no stupid GaaS crap or grinding for the sake of daily log in number chasing. It has the lore and world building all set up on a tee, just give us cool stuff to explore, lots of loot to find, a good cohesive storyline, and solo/small group stuff and it will sell like crazy. Heck, I'd be thrilled if they leaned into the RPG aspects a lot more and made it a true RPG looter shooter. But now with Bungie being disbanded outside of Marathon devs (which will also soon be dissolved), I don't know where this goes and if we will ever even get another Bungie shooter.

"As the leaders of Bungie, past and present, we recognize Destiny 2 fell short of expectations for several years."

What part of that is passing the buck and trying to blame Sony?
