  • Educational Programming Requirements: Broadcasters must provide programming specifically designed to meet the educational and informational needs of children 16 years of age and under. In later rulings enforcing the Act, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established a benchmark of at least three hours per week of "core" children's programming. [1]
  • Advertising Limits: To protect children from excessive commercialism, the Act restricts advertising to 12 minutes per hour on weekdays and 10.5 minutes per hour on weekends for programming aimed at children 12 and under. [1]
  • Host-Selling Bans: The FCC prohibits the practice of "host selling," where a character from a children's show is used to advertise products during that same program. [1, 2]
They just made it far less profitable and more difficult to produce. Also why sat morning died

It's my understanding the hour requirements for edutainment were the biggest killer - stations didn't any hours left for 'for-profit' kids shows.

Especially when most consumers had basic cable with a ton of kid networks (Disney, Nickelodeon, etc.) by that point.

A movie for little kids, who don't give a fuck about He-man.

50 year olds-- who also don't give a fuck about He-man.

Oh well, we'll get em next time.
What a weird post for someone who made 50 prior posts saying that Jared Leto was the only reason this movie wasn't a $5 billion blockbuster...

So I went ahead and watched this fucking disaster.

Who the fuck was the target audience??
Kids? With all the cursing and obvious sex jokes?
Adults? Basically only the Woke crowd. It starts off like it's poking fun at Woke, but then you get shit like Man-At-Arms telling Teela that she's the MAN he always wanted to be. The roll-your-eyes "Toxic Masculinity" of Skeletor. Adam being a sniveling runt unless he had brute force doing the heavy lifting, literally. They weren't poking fun at Woke, they were rubbing it our face by pretending they were.
Cringer being a Battle Cat without the Battle Cat.

Oh, and the Highlander theme song, even though the title fits, was blasphemy.
Yea, fuck'em. They're out to destroy everything.

Pokemon and video games is what killed the he-man, gi-joe, transformers, etc market.
The market just dwindled. there were always others. battletech, power rangers, etc.

But kids stopped buying action figures, and started buying pokemon, yu-gi-oh, etc.

Disney also happened. Disney was in bad shape, and turned themselves around overnight. focusing on quality.
gummibears, ducktales, tailspin.
(yes, it was gummibears that did it. based on.. but not based on the candy. ) (6 seasons, 65 episodes)

"Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears was Disney's first major serialized animated television series (it was released back to back with another show, The Wuzzles, which lasted only 13 episodes), and is often credited as having helped jump start the television animation boom of the late 1980s and 1990s.[3][26] Consequently, it also became the forerunner to Disney's famous Disney Afternoon timeslot, which gave way to other famous serialized Disney television series, such as DuckTales, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers and Gargoyles. Although many of these subsequently-created shows exceeded Gummi Bears in budget and length, the show is often credited as a sort of prototype for all of the animation which followed it."

x-men. the quality on the shows increased, leaving the action figures shows behind. and, the market was on comics, video games, etc. not action figures.

And to point out the obvious... Pokemon is a sales pitch for pokemon... captain n, mario brothers cartoon, zelda cartoon, etc- nintendo.

Was I the only one who thought the fight scenes were terrible? I mean the combat should have been the centerpiece of the movie but it was awful. No blood, no gore, weapons had no weight. It was like a 90 minute nerf battle.
