22 hours played and still a fuck ton to learn, swear I think I have the counters down but then I get overrun with a single upgrade in the right place and lose. Being able to customize your unit upgrades is huge for replay value but makes it almost DOTA 2 levels of learning match ups. You have to play super adaptive, if you stick to one strat and they adapt you lose so can't even go in with a game plan that will last beyond a turn or 2.

120 hours played and still play it every day, this guy explains the units well enough even though he is both right and wrong about what the good units are and that is why this game is so good. The unit mods you can get change what each unit can counter, and then depending on what mods the other guy has changes how effective they are. It is crazy deep.

Yeah bunch of modes besides straight pvp, they added some new units past few months as well.

Most gaming fun I've had in years. Only caveat is that it's like starting a new MOBA. You need a few hours, or watching some videos, to get started, or you will just get crushed. Short matches, looks great, awesome fun.
I tried it because I watched Grubby play it, so I had a little headstart.

Place units, watch them fight. Basically a starcraft tug of war mod. It is very addicting though and free right now for testing.

They added what I am calling Zany mode that rotates every hour. Things like free upgrades, one round use super strong power ups, no more than 3 of any unit type etc. they combine two mutators and say go.
it is a nice change from trying to do meta builds and struggle to reach a decent MMR.
I did quit for like 4 months with the direction they kept moving but this brings back a rule of fun the game was missing.

New mode with 2.0, adds a single or duo mode that is asynchronous vs. it is much easier with no timer and you are not having to worry about tech and counter picks just every round you pick some units or tech from limited options and try to make a cohesive army.
I think they added a free to play mode or it is free, no idea.

I tried this and the units and visuals were cool but I always felt like I was just randomly guessing which units to pick since you have no idea what the enemy is picking. I’m sure there are state and meta to do but I didn’t play enough to figure that out.

600 hours played, and I still don’t have it down. When in doubt though fire and void eyes can get you far.
