"OH MY SCIENCE! did you just use your freaking mind to move that boulder!?" "theres a metroid right behind me, isn't there?!"

motor cycle also looks lame. no idea why people though that looked good in the preview. she has fast travel built into the suit in older games. dashes, etc. THAT is cool. super speed, blitzing, etc. propulsion jets.

internet is losing its mind at marvel humor companion NPCS that will not shut the fuck up.

"wow samus, Ridley somehow returned. thats weird isn't it?!"

I hope those quipping companions are with the player the entire game and there’s no option to mute them. 🙏🏼

More than a little rustled. Can we publicly execute all involved in making this abomination?

Motor cycle is lame too as I stated. Samus super speed should be like Genos from Ono punch man. or Metal knight.

alternative. the motor cycle appears to use Samus's suit tech. it looks like the morph ball. that's lame as shit. if the Motorcycle was based on her spaceship tech, and was loaded/dropped by her Spaceship. that would be better.

Motorcycle is probably a compromise - they wanted a large world area to be explored by vehicle, but didn't want Samus flying around in her ship

I haven't played Metroid since the Gamecube so w/e

The issue is..

SHE ALREADY HAS SYSTEMS IN HER SUIT THAT DO ALL THAT..

In Dread they even expanded the abilities of the Speed Booster, I understand that the Prime series takes place some time before Fusion and even Other M.. But serious? (I know the director dude never did like Speed booster at all, as it presented too many problems with crashing thru world terrain..)

It's a pretty simple question to ask yourself during development. "When Samus can turn into an omnidirectional ball, why the fuck would she need a motorcycle?"

Every level of decision making that ended up with the bike was a complete failure.

It's pretty depressing how after an eight-year wait (since the first announcement) and an entire full console generation rotating out, the game is finally here and it looks like it might be a fucking catastrophe. I mean even a subpar Metroid Prime game is still better than most other games, but it didn't need to be subpar when it's all we're getting for the forseeable future.

Have a feeling Elder Scrolls VI is gonna be in the exact same boat on all counts.

I should probably get a new hobby. Not even joking.

4000hp vibrator.

Is that why women like motorcycles so much?

Hard disagree on Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

It has some issues, like getting lost a lot, the two worlds making for some confusion during exploration/progression, and uneven difficulty (like the spikes for fights like Boost Guardian). However, Prime 2 has unparalleled atmosphere and ambience, and part of me actually got more into it than Prime 1 at times. Especially on first playthrough in late 2004, with all the lights off. Prime 2 drew me into the world in a way no other "scary" sci-fi FPS has ever managed to do. I'd put it well above Prime 3 or Prime: Hunters.

Really wish Nintendo would have banged out Prime 2 Remastered (and maybe even Prime 3 Remastered) during the wait for Prime 4, because I'd love to revisit them but there's no real way to at the moment (unless one wants to go out and find a Wii and then run them in standard def on modern TVs).

To each their own, but Echoes has got to be one of the worst games I've ever played. The music was the best part about that game. They had some cool vistas in the game, I remember the cliff side when going to the Torvus Bog elevator and of course, Sanctuary Fortress with that view of the city, mountains and towers of light in the distance. Other than that, a real drag to play.

The ambience was awful, half the game the color scheme is purple and black, ammo system was a step toward full on retardation. The most difficult part of the game was to find the desire to play the thing and finish it because you paid 50 bucks to buy the thing.

Can't compare to Metroid Prime when played, as you said, with the lights off, but also with a surround sound system and on a big screen with the Game Cube component cables. Soundtrack is 10/10, it's perfect. That's how I played it back in the day and it was an experience to say the least.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy it, must be nice, because I was looking for more of that Prime experience and it just fell apart with Echoes and everything that came after it in terms of first person view.

Prime 3, not a fan at all, I found it unplayable, (Wiimote) and Hunters, I don't think has a huge following, for a reason. Hunters might be worse than Echoes.

I can only hope the annoying person is only in the tutorial section and once it opens up the "find the guy over there" is just a reason to go to that area and not an escort mission or anything dumb like that.

Prime 1 had something similar to what I am hoping, after some time "lots of activity over in this section" popped up giving you a spot where to go but not how to get there. Boss fight ensues or something similar, maybe kill a boss to save the guy and get upgrade to unlock next. etc. etc.

Sure prime 2 and 3 had similar mechanics but haven't played those 2 in a while and completed the remaster when it came out a bit ago.

I'm a bit of a metroid fanboi so may have rose colored glasses but i'm still looking forward to it.

It's possible Prime 2 won't hold up as well as I remember whenever they do put out a remaster. I only played through it twice (in 2004 and 2010). I remember the individual areas dragging a bit (Agon Wastes went on too long, then Torvus Bog went on way too long). Which is a byproduct of them going for fewer, larger zones compared to the other Metroid games. Other than that I was really into it.

Hunters and Federation Force were both pretty shitty, played them once for completionism's sake, not sure why either of them needed to exist or use up valuable dev time.

Prime 3 was better than the two spinoffs but it didn't grab me. Only played it once and very little of it stayed with me. Had motion controls it didn't need, what a surprise from Nintendo. Other than that I remember it having some solid moments like the Rundas fight, Omega Ridley, and the Nova Beam being awesome (technically Hyper Mode in this game is as strong as Samus ever gets in the series, outside of the final minutes of Dread)

My guess is that it came from the other end of the problem. They probably did some focus group polling to find out why Metroid as a franchise is not more popular and the answer was the oppressive atmosphere of loneliness and isolation. So they decided to add a chatty companion, not understanding that a key feature of the franchise is that very atmosphere that some people do not enjoy.

Plot twist: the chatty companion gets destroyed within the first hour of gameplay to enhance the feeling of loneliness. One can hope!
