With phone pics I find it’s usually best to take the pic kind of far away to reduce blur, then zoom in and crop it. The newer phones are so crisp now that zooming in to crop it doesn’t really make it blurry. Those two pics I posted above were from a couple feet away.

Yea I like the 1/100 scale for painting. That Gundam is pretty big as well. I started to consider painting some Warhammer stuff earlier but my eyes betray me painting such small details.
There's some detail painting on the gunplas and that's hard enough with my eyes and shaky hand.
You all do crazy work on those small models.

I've seen a few busts here and there, not sure whats available over here though. The whole scale model/paint hobby scene is always out of stock, maybe it's due to covid and China shipping issues.
That looks really cool, but I will probably end up like "le grill". Will check for some cheap ass kits to start practicing a bit more advanced painting. I don't want to ruin my 60-100 dollar kits.

Never thought of using contrasts as a pure shade before but really like how the normal wraithbone combined with skeleton horde contrast came out in this video. If I can ever find Deathwing squads for MSRP or less or get around to my Indomitus captains/veterans will be giving that a try. Was hopeful with the new DA codex going up for preorder it would coincide with a restock or some new terminator models but nope, everything outside a couple Ravenwing ships is still out of stock.

Contrast paint is how I’ve been doing my crystals. Zenithal priming, then contrast, then drybrush white. Very easy and I’ve really liked the results. It’s the only thing I’ve tried using contrast paints for. Those crystals on that skull a few posts back used that method. Here too.

I told you a while back I'd post a pic at some point. I need to get a new phone that had a better camera, and dig some models out.
Don't ask why I painted marines with green armor and red trim. I blame the drugs years ago.
Also fuck WHFB right in the pooper. Just when I was getting back into it and making up movement trays, they went and retconned/changed it all. I just literally threw everything into boxes (like dropping trash into a trashcan) and I haven't touched them since.
Old dreads. Think there's an original land raider you can barely see on the upper left corner (Primer gray, fuck yeah!). I really need to green stuff the lascannons back on. Those fuckers broke off so easily, it was criminal.

My nerd shelf with my 3 completed builds. Anyone got tips on cheap/smart lights to brighten the models up a bit?

Just a cheap LED strip on the shelf in front of them? Or if there’s a shelf above that one, the underside of it.

Yea led strips is probably easiest. No shelf above, just the roof so it might be a bit high up.
Haven't bought an led strip in ages, they might have gotten brighter nowadays so it could probably work mounting it way up. Otherwise I'll steal the GFs plant lights.
