I laughed out loud when Novitsky said that this metabolite could be in JJs system forever lmao. Also the reasoning on why they moved the fight was a joke too. Dana said it was because all this happened around xmas and NSAC didnt have time to research and investigate. So they moved the venue to Cali where they are more familiar with the case. Conveniently leaving out that NSAC and UFC knew about this since the beginning of December, and maaaayyyyybbbbeeeeee Cali might be a little more familiar with the case because JJ just handed them a $250,000 check. USADA def fucking shady, and if NSAC would have given into UFCs and USADAs pressure to keep the fight in Vegas you wouldnt have even heard about this incident, they 100% woulda just brushed it under the rug.

I listened to this podcast series about Victor Conti, Balco, and Jeff Novitsky. My biggest take away from it was that Novitsky is a self serving snake.

As for JJ's and moving the fight across state lines... I would be fucking pissed if I had paid and made arrangements to go to it. The kind of pissed, where the UFC would lose me as a fan for life.

JJ's just needs to -Fade into bolivia- Mike Tyson

So if USADA is in charge of all the testing, and they are the ones that announce when someone fails a test, why are they trying to cover it up? Wouldn't it just make more sense to not announce that he failed?

I think they're trying to be honest. Yeah, he failed, but how bad would it have looked if they'd hidden that he had?

Their issue is that it's just now dawning on them that their own standards need tweaking, and that they've essentially been banhammering folks for this same kind of thing. And that going forward they may have to address these kind of test results when they pop up and threaten to derail UFC events.

Of course there's the chance that their testing is bullshit. Or it's legit, but they just haven't recognized this particular shortcoming until now. All we can do is guess, and wait to see what happens. I'm guessing the latter, but who knows. Regardless, it's way too early to go Full Jayrebb about it, LOL

People have been coming up with some really ridiculous conspiracy theories. It's probably a lot simpler than that. Not everything needs to be shady business practices and the greasing of palms.

I'm not sure what to think about the test results and am reserving my opinion. The science is at a point where the sensitivity surpasses the ability to draw useful results. With enough testing you can probably find anything in anyone just based on contamination of drinking water. (JJ is definitely a cheater, though perhaps not in this particular instance. This is not a general excuse for him.)

What is unarguably shady is moving the venue at the last minute. This shows a dramatic disrespect for the fan and fighters who have already committed real money in transportation and lodging. Many of the fighters do not make enough to absorb having to relocate their camp and families on short notice, and the fans definitely don't. Bullshit through and through.

Oh and thought I'd bring this back up...Jon Jones should have lost his title to Sonnen at 159 to stoppage from that hideously broken toe, but the ref/doc pretended not to see it.

interesting that Jone/Gus 1, was his lowest ppv
as far as i have seen, been very little to no hype. before this shitshow
more has been made about Jones fighting DC again than anything else
and fight week hype appears to be reduced to a vid conference on thursday

right now the non-conor avg buy rate is 255k for this year

the estimate for this card had to under 600k, if that
would have said 400k, but Cyborg did 250k with 222 and the mess that was
while much better than normal, certainly could not be worth all the negativity

True but without JJ headlining the card, why does anyone but the most hardcore fan buy this at all?

The card features:
A women's title fight (Cyborg vs Nunes)
An unspiring welterweight fight (unranked Condit vs #9 LW moving up for the first time)
A lame LHW fight (#5 vs #10)
An irrelevant featherweight fight (#5 vs #10)

This is a horrible end-of-the-year card by UFC standards. Jon Jones is the only attraction. They scheduled this without a backup plan.

All this is going on with the shadow of PPV rights negotiations in the background. Their ESPN deal is solid, but they don't want to shit the bed with their PPV deal.

Looks like a pretty good card to me. The main card may not look that enticing but this is one the of the stronger prelims they have had in a while.

Just another example of Dana and the UFC bending over backwards to make Jon Jones a thing. It's done, finished, over - the dude is the most talented loser in the history of the sport, but fucking over thousands of fans less than a week before an event is the worst thing I think the UFC has ever done. If was a fan going to Vegas, a fighter on the undercard going to Vegas, or Gus himself I'd fucking boycott it. It's time MMA evolved, the PPV setup is ruining the sport - giving utter clowns like JJ 100 chances to turn it around is ruining the sport - Underpaying quality fighters and overpaying dickbirds like Mcgregor is ruining the sport. It's becoming boxing 2.0
