Generally speaking, women's MMA has come a long way since 2012, and yeah Nunes is an absolute freak. She's not only one of the handful of multi-division champs the UFC has ever had, but she's the only one to defend both belts more than once.

Also seems a little amateurish to not have a single standard cage size.

Is there as big a difference in styles between various boxers as there is between various MMA fighters?

Pretty sure Anderson got her elbow broken. The ref is blocking, but if you look at 1:11-12 in that video I don't think arms bend that way.

obviously not, but there are huge differences. and the when you're talking about a 16 x 16 ring vs a 20 x 20 ring that's almost double the area. way easier to corner someone in a smaller ring.

It's the same way different commissions have different scoring rules, allow (or not) ankle taping, or the weight of boxing gloves.

Combat sports "rules" are more than a little special.

Dude was this exciting future of MMA. He was explosive and all his fights were can't miss PPV draws.

And then he stopped being fun. He's gone for wins, not domination. Looking to win on the scorecards, but not in the hearts and wallets of fans.

It's also a lot easier to get badass-looking wins over lower tier opposition. People shit on GSP a lot for his decision record, but he fought the second-best guy in his division like 15 times in a row.

the judges are wrong even when they get it right.

I'm usually a proponent of more 10-8 rounds, but there wasn't enough damage in any of those rounds for my liking.

Yeah I was debating 3-2 or 4-1 for Jan, but 4-1 with a 10-8 is a wtf.
