heh my bad, i though it was referring to the footage with volk sparring izzy

and izzy is stuck in a tough place to be an exciting champ as a counter-striker. i agree the onus is on the challenger to come and take the belt, it just seems most challengers are just too gun shy of the counter to really take risks.

Pierrera is actually from a superior tribal Amazonian bloodline, his dad is from some northeastern Brazilian rainforest that lives outside of regular society and dont speak Portuguese.

He was also raised in a favela worse than Charles Oliviera's, growing up super poor. He dropped out of school at 11 and started working at a tire shop, becoming an alcoholic by the age of 13.

Even more fitting is he LOOKS the part. There isnt a more criminal looking guy on the UFC roster. He is what the cops would call a "hotel mike" on the street and would approach with caution and think hes a bad dude.

Is that intended to help Munhoz's case? Because all it does it reinforce that he's a faker.

It was clearly the right eye that he "couldn't see out of", due to the eye poke. But, it was the left eye that Sugar Sean destroyed early in the fight. He used the "poke" as an excuse to get out of the rest of the fight. Not that I necessarily blame him, but it's definitely some scummy shit.

I think Israel is similar to Khabib in that his strength partly lies in the fear his opponents have to stand with him. Khabib's threat was his takedown and maul, and you saw even the best strikers just letting him swing on them because they were too concerned the takedown was coming rather than focusing on their own attacks. People are so concerned of Israel's counter-punching that they don't want to brawl with him, but it's a mistake. Costa was a good example. He normally is ferocious towards opponents, but he was like a timid novice and just stood there letting himself be picked apart. Israel has relied on the same counterpunching style in numerous engagements, and if you prepare for it you can predict how he will respond to any dive's you dig at him. The thing about Whittaker is he did the same 1/3, 3/4 combo on Israel for about 3 rounds before Israel set up on him. If Whittaker just had some variety to his striking I think he could beat Israel. The problem is his coaches probably aren't gaming him well and want him to go more towards wrestling or calf chopping.

But, that said, Periera looks like he will pick Israel apart. Reach advantage nullified, won't want to just pitter patter with him, and has the aggression and confidence needed to walk forward if he wants. Also KO power in every shot. Israel is a good next level fighter. He has taken down MMA guys who were masters of none

Till is just such a strange soul and a really cool guy it seems so I think people give him a bunch of leeway and respect because of that. Surely it isnt because of his ability as a top MMA fighter.

I look at that card and maybe there are two fights I am interested in. That said, cards like this can be the most entertaining because expectations are so low.
