Good. Jon Jones will go down as the greatest MMA fighter in history (at least out of the last 20+ years) but him sitting on top of the hill and not taking contenders was bad for the sport.

The question now becomes... who fights Aspinall? Big fun matchup would be Derek but outside of that... Gane? Heavyweight isn't exactly the deepest division.

on the wnba derail,
"nba's $1.2m min. which they want."
i stated that wrong, currently in wnba min base $66k and max base is something like $250k, they want the max base to be $1.2m, don't know how much they want the min to be.

I would say that they were on the right track to earning a profit finally if you believe all the hype, but apparently when Clark was out injured the viewership dropped by like 50% or something, and ticket sales by like 75%.

You can't have a single actual star in a sport and expect it to make money. The problem is that a high school boys team would wreck their best's shit 9/10 times. Ain't nobody payin for that nonsense. Just look at the WSNT; they are absolutely the highest paid and most successful women's team in US sports, and they have to cherry pick years where their revenue outpaces their costs. The WNBA is like... several layers back from that. It's a farce.

Chimps are better at killing people than gorillas. Check some chimp fights where packs fight each other. They're experts at rending attacks. Using their fingertips to shred muscle tissue off the bone. Gorillas don't have the same tendencies, even when angry. I'd like to see him eye poke and grab a chimps balls as he's losing literally all his living tissue off of his body.

They need to start acquiring East European talent. Other orgs have done so over the years and are thriving. 40 year old Derrick Lewis ain't the future.

Guys like Pavlovich getting exposed did irreparable damage to the division. How you fix it is get more up and comers that you can sell as the next big thing, then have Aspinall knock them off.

The steroid abusing eye poking criminal legend the UFC deserves.
And yet will still go down as the greatest MMA fighter in history (of at least the last 20+ years)

I'd argue about sport legitimacy, but the closest real competitor is Boxing and that shit is so corrupt it may as well be run by Zelensky. Combat sports are real, real tainted.

True. Who knows what kind of "name" Aspinall would have if they didn't need to fill that card short notice.

They created a belt to fill a card.

really at that point, jones should have vacated the belt or been stripped. it had already been like 6 months from his last fight and he was looking at 6+ month recovery.
i wasn't a fan of tom (i was fully on the sergej hype train) but who else is really worth talking about. when i look at HW now, there are more, how has that guy not been cut over can't wait to see him fight again.

I'm disturbed by all this. Jones was a fucking legend in the ring, and he wasted all of his talent on bullshit, after such an amazing entrance into the UFC world. It bothers me. Alcohol & substances... What a waste.

I don't know how UFC let the HW division deteriorate so much since the JDS Cain era, but if you look at the minor leagues overseas, it's not due to lack of available HWs. What it seems to be is, it's not worth signing with UFC for a 20k/20k contract. Up and coming overseas talent can take several fights in small shows and beat the entry level UFC contract now with the growing popularity of MMA worldwide. Throw some East Euro sponsors in, and they're making good money. UFC not being the only place to make a few bucks is giving UFC problems with acquiring HW talent.

Signing some of those contenders before PFL did would have beefed up the division-- but it seems UFC isn't even trying to go after HW's at all.
