For a couple years now you don't count as a downed opponent if only your feet or hands are touching the mat. The change was meant to stop people from just putting the one hand lightly down to abuse the system, it was not meant to allow a knee to the head in this kind of situation which is kind of funny. 'The hand down must be weight-bearing' was the main other candidate for the change to the downed opponent rule (which would have applied here) but I guess that was considered too subjective.

He's actively trying to get released now to do boxing.

His manager Hearn is saying he shouldn't take any UFC fights. But he does have 2 fights left on his contract, so would surprise me if he doesn't just do the 2 fights as the fastest path to leaving UFC on amicable terms.

But the way things have gone in the HW division-- it wouldn't surprise me if there is a fighter pay issue that comes up.
