We would routinely find NPCs to try to kill and have to flee from before we'd find one that worked. There was no guide for this or anything in comments on Everlore etc. Ask any Darkenbane members from RZ of that era.

What the fuck is this goalpost moving shit?

We’re talking about paper-like maps with simple POIs. What fucking story are you telling yourself about maps and how that relates to what mobs you camped?

Didn't realize we had the Christopher Columbus of EQ on these forums.

Only way you should be able to find your way around is by learning the constellations which also change based on the season. Fucking weak sauce noobs up in here.

You said the entire game was solved and everyone knew everything based on someone using the maps.

I told you about my experiences of doing things that weren't posted online or marked on a map or a posted note of "come farm this guy for XP".

I don't think these guys are going to put question marks on a map you can pull up in game that shows your location or all the quests to speed people through like WoW does.

Sounds like the most cucked person on this game is gonna be someone like you without a YouTuber guide, lost in the dark, unable to remember your way around even after going through it a few times, behind in levels and having an absolute melter.

Good luck with your lobbying though, if it helps they can definitely tell you're really pissed off and unhappy.

I don’t care. You’re lying about EQ.

You did not get to Sebilis, or Chardock, or Western Wastes for the first time without a map. Unless of course you were the absolute donkey making self sufficient guildies lead you around by the nose. And even if you were, they were using a map to do it.
I'm not really anti-map, but what the fuck is this idea that it's impossible to find things by, um, just walking around? It's not like "exploring" is some magical skill or that these places existed in the middle of infinitely large zones. Sebilis and Chardok were in the middle of bigass ruins. WW would have been admittedly hard since most people were scared to death of single-group dungeon crawls, but those people shouldn't have been in WW anyway. Wtf would you need a map to find them if you were actually playing in the zones? Some things about eq would be crazy to do without spoilers, like some, maybe all, epic quests. But "finding zones without maps" being unbelievable? Jesus Christ.

It’s obviously possible because it was done. Wtf is this post? Lol

All I’m saying is Nirgon wasn’t that guy. He either looked up a map, or was led there by someone with a map.

i bet the number of people who zoned into Sebilis without a map or a player guide (including quest guide) can be measured in the dozens.

It's because consumers are fucking idiots and enable it though. Look at the people who paid hundreds of dollars to test AoC for them. It's been over a decade of companies releasing unfinished games in EA and then just never really getting around to finishing them, because they already got your money.

Thanks Valve.

Yes, how on earth could people have ever found this giant ruin that only takes up like 25% of the entire zone:

Quest guides I can understand though. Eq quests were complete aids.

You’re so cucked that your brain is sitting in a chair watching your fingers type.

Okay so if it's going to be mapped out for you shortly, what are you complaining about again?

How it's stupid that you have to wait a few days for someone to do it for you? Lol

If you have to wait for maps to be made for you, don't call top questers "cucks". Ridiculous.

Are you a participant in this conversation? Or is your consciousness just floating through space reacting to stimulus like an insect? You just looped back to the original premise.

If maps will exist within days of release (or before!) and 99% of the player base will engage with them either themselves or through a player proxy, then why exclude them from the game, forcing interaction with a second screen?

Classic WoW’s fog of war style POI maps were basically perfect.

I’m gonna disagree here. That orb is not obviously placed at all. It took early players at least what could be considered moderate exploration to find it. I’d go as far as arguing that many of the people specifically searching that intently for content were doing so for the purpose of mapping the zone.

Let the big boys make your maps for you and be kew. Ok? Way too worked up about a non-issue.

I believe you're going to be the guy howling in guild chat about how no one else helps him and the game sucks for one reason or another.

Outward did this (although with slightly more detail). It worked super well because the world was designed with big landmarks in mind that you could use to navigate around. Your position was never shown on the map, but if you could figure out what direction the giant purple mountain was from you, you could get wherever you needed to go.

Remember when everyone complained about the darkness making it unplayable and now it’s fixed?

No one is complaining about combat, loot, bugs, or actual gameplay.

Fun game confirmed.

The MAPists can stay disgruntled.

You'd only need that if you're like an insect, floating around retardedly from one moment to the next

Love hearing the non stop whining from the people who have made it known they weren't playing this game for years if ever. Really valuable input, guys.

There will be a cartography system in game at some point that will allow players to make maps in game and sell them.

But it's still pretty pathetic that some of you can't spend a couple hours and learn the layouts yourself. It's really not that hard. All of the early zones are rectangles FFS. Remind yourselves that exploration can be fun. Not everything needs to be ADHD fueled instant gratification.
