Niche? This is going to have 25k subscribers after month 6. Possibly 100k by year's end.

What is the basis for this 25k claim? Or are dudes just ‘manifesting’ like perimenopausal facebook moms with crystal collections?

I’m also one of those who occasionally checks in on this game’s development progress. Every time I do and catch up on all the latest buzz about it, I always come to same conclusion - I just don’t want to play EQ anymore.

As much as I loved the grindy, XP and rare camping gameplay from twenty or hell, even ten years ago, I just don’t have the desire for that style of game anymore.

The only conclusion I come up with as to why I continue to come back and check up on it is because there just aren’t any other options out there in this space right now. At least none to get excited about.

Haven't played this, but I can still fire up P99 and enjoy the gameplay, so im guessing I'll enjoy this.

Im kind of bored of the same zones/mobs/drops/classes/spells in p99, but that's all the stuff that will be new with MnM

And that is fine. Your type is the reason WoW was successful and dungeon design shifted to instanced content. PH/rare camp play isn't for everyone. I wouldn't enjoy it personally if PvP didn't exist to force people out of camps etc.

The play nice policy ain't for me

I'd wager the Riot MMO is your best bet down the road.

Havent been to the thread in a while. Busy IRL as business picks up. But still the same few people spouting off walls of text about a game they dont like. White Knighting, trying to save someone from making a BAD CHOICE by liking the game. But.. at least we finally got through to "them" about the game not costing anything (Right?.... RIGHT?!?!?). You would think these walls of text would be in the Star Citizen thread, which is actually getting fucking PRAISE right now. But no.. theyre here, in this thread.. talking shit about a game made by a handful of guys in their spare time. "I know you said the exact reason you like this system. But no, really, other than that answer - which isnt an answer at all - why do you like this system?!?!" /galaxybrain

Games an homage to EverQuest - Nick & Co. have never said anything contrary to the point. Writing walls of text and complaining about things that "you" dont find to be meaningful or add to the value of the game, is about as useful as complaining to the government that Nancy Pelosi is still doing insider trading. They arent gleaming some grand fucking design ideas from this thread, much less are they reading your 1000th long winded post in less than a week, about how they should change their fucking designs.

Every attempt that someone makes to justify a system, or answer a question is circled around as if it wasnt good enough or irrelevant. "Why do you like this sytem?" "I think I enjoy it because it makes me, ME PERSONALLY, want to do it more!" ---- "Thats not an answer. That system is garbage and needs to be like WoW! These devs are idiots and are charging you simps millions, no, billions of dollars to play a game that is designed just like EQ!" (Theres no follow up needed for this response because of how idiotic it is.)

"They arent releasing on Steam because its a big pile of shit!" - yes. Thats obviously why they arent releasing it on steam. Never mind that a game that didnt have any meaningful content past level 20, released on steam here in the last year. Made their little "bang for the buck", lost almost all the players that bought it. "It lost all the players because of how terrible the design decisions are and some of the same ones are here!" Thats possible? I dont care for the fucking Trucking Simulator games, so why the fuck would I keep playing it if I dont like it?

Never mind the fact that I encountered bugs in that game that bricked my first character. Bugs that caused quests to just not work for my character, only. Incomplete fucking trade skills that were still in the game, but had you chasing your tail for no reason. Just like the fucking talent system that is implemented, but not complete and you're unable to fucking do anything with. Gameplay that was touted to be like EverQuest, but instead you're trying to read the fucking alignment of the stars to know when a mob is casting a player killing attack (in case you missed it in the un-filterable fucking combat log that scrolls at 90mph). Zone line bugs that would cause you to fucking zone into the next zone, IN THE MIDDLE OF A ZONE. An insane amount of mobs that has zero fucking itemization. This isnt even talking about the general lack of polish that the entire game had, or the fuck shit ass lack of content.

But you know what? I still think Pantheon is a valiant attempt by a small team to fucking make an MMO. That game has its merits and Ill stand by my thoughts that itll be a game worth exploring at the very least, WHEN its further along. WITH ALL THAT SAID - I simply do not think Pantheon should have went into Early Access when it did. I do not think that Monsters and Memories should release on steam "YET" - either. Yet, after spending a hell of a lot longer playing MNM - I can guaran-fucking-tee you, that this game is further along than Pantheon was when it hit Steam. "BUT DEVS SAID THEY WERENT RELEASING ON STEAM. HURR DURR!" - Yep. They werent releasing on steam THEN. They dont have a fucking marketing team to handle the fucking sperg lords picking apart everything they say, taking one thing to mean 10 different fucking things. /aneurysm

TL;DR - This game is in fucking alpha. Circle jerking religiously, continuously, ad nauseam, about design decisions this early in its life is stupid. Talking about how much it charges people to play is stupid, because it hasnt charged anyone anything. Complaining about this game doing things, but not putting in the same effort to criticize games that are clearly taking advantage of people is stupid. MNM is enjoyable, and is EverQuest-LIKE. Its not making the very same decisions that EQ made, but they are a lot more reminiscent of EQ than they arent. I enjoy it, others enjoy it. Thats all that needs to be said. I personally cant wait for it to go into Early Access just so I can get to play with everyone I know that will like this game.

For people who have played into late game - how's the gear looking? Any armour sets yet? Are set bonuses too much to hope for? Focus effects? Skill % MODs? Are clickies interesting?

I've wondered about the end game. I haven't seen anything but I keep playing early game over and over again. They may not even have an end game yet but I'm curious if they're going to have some open world Vox/Naggy type deals or a PoF/PoH approach where you have an end game zone with bosses and mini bosses

I believe they've mentioned there will be both "raid-types" available. I put raid in quotations because I believe they're trying to call it multi-group content, rather than raiding. From the streams I've watched it sounds like there will be content, but it seems they want to make sure people aren't expecting tons of raids with different tiers to complete before moving on to the next.

When people ask if there is going to be raiding, they've said there will be an expedition zone and there will be multi-group targets in the open world.

There’s at least 3 different multi group targets at lvl 60 and several before level 60. There’s one in particular that spawns in certain conditions that might need vox/naggy numbers to take down. There are also around 4-5 open world dungeons and a separate zone that are for end game groups( some of it can do at lower 50s too). There’s also a huge city of giants that isn’t itemized yet but will significantly increase the amount of late game content available. This area will definitely have multi group targets

There’s at least as much endgame content pending as is currently released as well.

From the stream they've stated there will be some raids but mostly small group content for many different group sizes.

I wonder what the motivation is here. Why do they think players will behave in this way rather than just level to max and do that content?

Do they think people will stop their levelling grind to do multi-group content after the initial population leveling rush? Why would players do this? Will it be incentivized with unique gear you can 'miss out' on if you out-level the encounters?

I don't have an actual answer, but I suspect they're just making content they think is cool. Like a level 20 raid mob that death touches any 21+ can just be a cool thing to exist without having a defined design purpose. Having an option to "small man" content with your three buddies instead of joining a raid guild is cool. Granted good luck making sure a full group isn't sitting on your 4-man tuned content if its too rewarding but I guess we'll just see how it goes.

Looking at how they've designed their content pipeline, from the outside at least, I think they are going to be able to PUMP content once they're done building. They really have made a bunch of technical decisions that should payoff bigly down the line

Shards of Dalaya had level locked content and it worked ok as optional content to change things up while leveling. They should really make all the drops No Drop if they haven’t already to avoid poopsock losers monopolizing it

people just sell loot rights if items are good enough

I bet flagging no-drop to require kill flagging would be pretty simple. Solvable problem for sure
So the loot sellers invite them into the group to get kill credit. Need to be on the hate list while over the level cap? Then run in, get death touched with a 96% rez as part of the sale. Sweatlords will find a way to sell it if it's popular enough.

What will happen is guilds will have a team of alts that are essentially level locked for the encounter if the loot is good enough. It happens on P99 with Vox/Naggy.
