There’s been like 7-8 people consistently vocally critical about this game here, outnumbered at minimum 4:1 ratio by people almost totally uncritical. Of those 7-8 it might be 3 guys who have given near zero praise for the game.

Just shows how fucking fragile the egos involved are.
Contrast this place to their Discord, Reddit or Forums where everyone licks their balls 24/7 and it makes sense

Class design aside, the fact you are limited to 10 abilities regardless of class is awful for pure melee and hybrids. Monk has weird abilities like flying kick where half the time if you want to use it for extra damage you have to fight with the geometry backing up to get it off and by that time you've wasted potential melee attacks.

My biggest gripe so far as a solo farmer and this is definitely 1st world problem is how much coins weigh. I mean I get it from a physics level but from a gameplay perspective it's dumb as fuck. I farmed corrupted ashira for 2ish hours and got about 2700 copper which adds so much weight I was forced to leave. I don't know why it can't just automatically convert to higher coins or something OR JUST DONT WEIGH ANYTHING.

So because I'm solo and had a great camp, I have to leave and lose my camp because my currency weighed me down.

My weight was like 134/112 or something. Thankfully a guild member saved me so I could actually gate instead of dirty diaper waddle home.

I had a funny waddle moment earlier. I found a good tin spot and mined the hell out of it with Megu. I was so fat I could just barrrrrrrely walk and I wanted to get on the boat and take it to underdork.

The darkietown docks are kinda off a cliff you can jump to get to it fast so I bailed off. I was swimming like 0.000000001 mph and my pet decided to get to me that it would go outside of town and path thru every enemy area.

About the time I was swimming under the docks to get to the place I could hop out about 50 green/grey con elementals crashed into me and the guards couldn't see me to help.

People deleted copper in beta.

I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I was in the mid-teens, had 3500-4000cp on me, and running back to town. I accidently aggro'd multiple mobs and had to delete every bit of it to outrun the shit chasing me because I didn't have time to carefully go through my inventory to blow up the heavier, less valuable stuff.

At the time, 40s was a huuuuge loss for me.

This was another big miss for me. I actually really like the limited action set but there are a number of things that should go on the skill bar. LoH and HT being two that are top of mind. It's tricky though because once you decide that you want limited action set for all classes not just caster you run into a bunch of situations like that

Thankfully I have so many escapes... FD, invuln, fear, root, make my pet die for me

The pull of a genuine old-school indie MMO is the design philosophy more than nostalgia. Group reliance, slow travel, and death penalties shape how players actually interact, and that's what tends to get stripped out of modern titles. I'm curious how Monsters and Memories plans to handle solo viability without softening those systems too much, since a healthy group game still needs people leveling alone at times. The art and pacing matter too, but the community that forms around those constraints is usually what makes or breaks a project like this.

Coin and loot changes should have already taken place in alpha or beta. Fk’n with the economy with the majority of your player base is dumb.

Classes ARE boring. INQ brings nothing notable to the table that an ENC or BRD dont bring in spades. ENC itself, without charm being powerful, was accurately described as a buff bot earlier. ELE can go sleep while their pet does all the work. SPB brings fk all to the group and is just annoying to play. WIZ is about as forgettable as ELE. SHM could be fun, but a ton of their kit clashes with Enc too. Etc. I can keep going. Only class I have a little fun with is DRU and thats because they have so much utility/versatility.

Deep dungeon crawls typically only work with a group that has a monk, mezzer and rezzer. The risk vs reward is completely out of whack in most situations. No rezzer and your puller dies? Back to the entrance. No monk and the shitty aggro system may let you pull a couple, or a dozen. No mez and if you arent steam rolling content- youre gonna wipe when a 5-8 minute respawn bites you in the ass because the rare has three times the HP as a regular mob. As it stands, its far more reasonable to go find an easy camp - out level the dungeon and then go back and farm it. Disappointing is putting it lightly.

Which reminds me! Who tf thought making rares, which were already an under con more often than not - higher level for early access? Making entire camps off limits to a group that would actually level there.

Ive got a thousand other things to complain about - but im just reiterating what ya’ll are saying because it’s the truth. The game needs so much more refinement and iteration. With it going into EA - i was thinking bugs would be my problem. But no, I just get bored. Ill drop to casual playtime and push onward. But I am not happy with the game right now and its almost 100% based off class design.

So the spell scroll refunds. I did not receive a refund so I petitioned a week ago and was told by GM Tucker to wait for the next patch and check then. Still no refund so I petition again and Trent tells me that only spells in AV and UD received cost decreases. I was under the impression that ALL spells were reduced in cost not just spells in those 2 cities. Was I mistaken?

I got like 20s back and I buy all my spells in Night Harbor on my Shaman. I bought two of the 20s silver ones and they where refunded for the most part. I think they are 3s now.

Can't say the game is a flop when the subs keep growing. It being EA means they can improve on t hings.

Was out soloing skeletons for the sweet EXP and loot when I was invited to a decent camp of fire elementals, went well, fun was had. Level 39 continues to kick my ass.

Apart from the Customer Service douchbaggery, I am having a good time. That doesn't mean I don't have a 100 bones to pick, because I do. However, I have to constantly remind myself to maintain perspective.

The thing that gets me (and I suspect some of you) is that this game has the bones of a really, really good game. And has moments that will fool you in to thinking that the game is better than it is, but that illusion comes crashing down numerous times a play session.

And that's when I need perspective the most. This is a game with zero budget, a tiny team, and still has a long, long way to go before its retail release.

I'm not making excuses for its numerous, obvious, glaring issues, but I want it to be great and I think it can.

I genuinely believe that year 2 of M&M (assuming it lasts that long) can be its Kunark.
