In case anyone cares, this got pushed from Oct 24th to May 2026. Apparently the WB people think this thing is gonna make some money.

I have tried Mortal Kombat (2020) a few times and Ive never gotten past the midway mark.

Mortal Kombat (1995) was made with so much love, passion, and intentionality. You can tell how lazy everyone in production was in the 2020 reboot. The only good thing about it is Cano and Sonya Blade. Outside that, its not even fun. I can handle bad if it's fun, but this ain't it, chief.

I’ve decided this looks just good enough and bad enough to venture to a theater.

Can't tell if that's good stupid or just stupid
That's a symptom of how bad education has gotten, I think. Maybe it's a cut like above post says, though.

Do I need to watch the more recent one if I want to watch this? Cause I heard the newer remake one was boring trash.

Since none of us have seen the new one yet, my guess would be you don't absolutely have to because it's a Mortal Kombat movie and you'll probably catch on pretty quickly, but I would also imagine it would help to have a little backstory to go along with all of the returning characters.

That being said, the first one wasn't boring trash. It had some problems, sure, but it was worth the watch for many of us I'm pretty sure, from what I remember of the old thread.
