Had the itch again for a bit, have gotten kinda focused in on a bmw k1600b. Not sure how big a deal the electric suspension is on 22 plus, the tft dash is meh. A mild use 2016 ish send like a much stronger value.

On the flip side id been wanting a 65mph e duty bike. It's no dirt bike but locally there's a z125 for under 2k with exhaust and other upgrades. A set of knobbies and might be great on the property and local country today, might even skip insurance and tag if it's not going into town.

Look into the Chinese dirt bikes before you buy one of those little turds. I picked up an xpro hawk for under 2k for camping and trails. Easy to get plates and insurance is like 10 bucks a month. It's a big bike, taller than my transalp, not much power but it will hit 65-70 and the suspension is decent for the price. Much more forgiving than any adventure bike, although not as nice as a real dirt bike. Much cheaper though and way nicer than a grom or z125.

Already bailed on the 125, I was looking at higher end ebikes with support like the 26 surron ultra bee.

Problem with the ebikes is they are outlawed at a lot of campgrounds and parks and stuff. Also never going to be street legal. The Chinese dirt bikes can be plated so you can legally take them everywhere except like actual bike trails. Granted the ebikes are quiet so you can stealth ride them even places where they aren't legal.

Plus 41, disc replacement, somewhat doctor knees, I'm unsure a dirt bike would end well which is funny since I'm looking at a 170mph top speed 800lb bike

Since the thread's been running this long, I'd be curious how the focus has shifted over the years. Portland riding means a lot of wet pavement and gravel in the corners, so tire choice and visibility tend to matter more than outright speed for me. Anyone else find that the practical side of motorcycling ends up mattering more than the spec sheet?

I mean that kind of thing is what lead me from doing near 200mph pulls to selling it all in Oklahoma. My commute has settled down a bit but still relatively sketchy here, but the itch is getting too me and maybe I'm feeling reckless again hoped up on T. I've debated if aparamotor/ultra light might arguable be safer, almost got into that before I moved

The suspension on those is plush as long as you aren't jumping logs. It glides over potholes with ease that would crack rims and vertebrae on a street bike.

Looks nice but you don't need all that power and certainly not all that weight offroad.

I have a 750 transalp and still bought a 250 dual sport because even the transalp is way too big for a dirt bike. You want a light bike period. More power is the last thing you need.

It would be 90% highway commute, and occasional country gravel roads. Not actually going to do jumps out technical trails. But yeah that's why I was interested in some of these newer smallish 600/700cc things hoping to not give up ability to commute. 250 would be good but would be a no go for work and id probably put less than 10 hours a year on it

Yeah 250 maxes out like 60-65 on the highway so it's backroads only to work but I ride it occasionally. But so much easier to load in a truck or trailer. The transalp at 450lbs is just too much. Great for a highway commuter though. It will cruise at 80mph all day long. It just doesn't feel like a "dual" sport aka very sketchy off-road. 450-500lbs coming down on you is an instant broken leg
