The End...

It is with our regret to announce that NZBMATRIX has closed.

We have had to make this decision due to a very large takedown request from a company called Wiggin LLC. These represent the following: Federation Against Copyright Theft Limited ("FACT"), Paramount Home Entertainment International Limited; Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Limited; The Walt Disney Company Limited; Twentieth Century Fox Film Company Limited; Universal Pictures (UK) Limited; Warner Bros. Entertainment UK Limited.

As everyone is aware we are DMCA/Takedown notice compliant, and always have been.
Once this notice is completed we are left with an impossible task of policing our indexing bots. Even then it won't stop there, there will be follow-up notices etc.

Coupled with this is problems with payment providers, we have been through pretty much everyone out there, in the end they all pull out.
There are massive server/bandwidth costs to pay, with the payments in-stability this is a very hard task.

NZBMATRIX has never been the subject of any legal issues or threats.

Also the Usenet Indexing scene is going through some changes, with content being removed from pretty much every provider its making the existence of an indexer irrelevant if the content does not even exists anymore.

So it's time for us to bow out...

I was just about to post a thread about this. After Demanoid, I thought I was staying one step ahead of The Man by going the usenet route, but I am still reliant on indexing. I will give newznab a shot and see if it's as easy as it appears. As for replacements, I don't know if it's any good, but nzbgrabit.co.uk has open signups. Looking at usenetreviewz.com, a bunch of the indexing sites are disappearing and others are not open to new signups.

Well.. fuck.

I use waffles and what.cd exclusively for music (so I'm pretty solid there), but nzbmatrix was my go-to place for movies.

What are the current alternatives? Be it usenet related or torrent related? Are there still popping private movie trackers?

I posted it in the other thread in General, but basically as long as newsgroups exist you can access their content without an indexer, it is just more tedious. I use Newsbin (not newzbin) to add different groups (let's use alt.binaries.ebooks as an example) to my list, then I download the latest headers and manually browse through it and click whatever I want to add to my download list. It is nowhere near as convenient or easy to use, or automated, as an indexer, but if you're lost without the latest episode of a show, for example, you can still get it without an indexer. I'd go into more detail but I'm guessing most people won't even bother and just use the next indexer they find, but I wanted to toss it out there that it does still work just fine without one.

Will they be forced to give out login info to go after , like being a member of that site should i be worried. I always thought newsgroups were a safe bet in avoiding getting caught or am i wrong in that?

Check the What.cd "Invites" forum. Tons of places are abound.
