I think the first movie I ever saw him in was The Thin Red Line. Just remember watching it back in college with my dad on PPV one weekend when visiting my folks.

We got through the first half of Monte Cristo tonight. It is funny that I have three different editions of that book and never saw the Caviezel film. Certainly a whole lot to condense into even a 2 hour movie. Guy Pearce is great.

I know a lot of people don't necessarily care for that film but I rewatched it maybe a year or so ago and I still like it. I don't think I liked it as much when I was back in college but it's pretty good. I never read the book though.

I didn't see his version of The Count of Monte Cristo until after Passion of the Christ. Like I said, I didn't pay any attention his career until I saw him as Jesus.

I don’t mind it either other then everyone was so desperate to work for Terrance Malick at the time it felt like it was watching one of those ensemble comedies where it’s hey looks it’s this actor then this actor or this actor even if they didn’t fit. I really didn’t need John Travolta in a WW2 flick lol

Fuck, I forgot he was in it. Probably need to go back and rewatch it. I know what you mean though and it was kind of surprising just to see various famous actors here and there in little roles.
I think a lot of people have an issue with it because it had come out right after Saving Private Ryan and people were expecting a different type of movie.

Oh for sure, at the time I would have been 18 and one of those people, and honestly that was mostly Fox trying to market a Malick film and had no idea how. Quite frankly Saving Private Ryan is the better war movie anyways. I think it wasn't until 10 years later after I finally watched Badlands and Days of Heaven (which honestly is probably the most beautiful film ever filmed), that I went back and appreciated it more even though I am not sure there was ever a central point to the film.
