they sound cool and all and at $800 its not a terrible price point, should be $500 in six months or less, but i just can't give a shit anymore. I have a 1080 (reg, not TI) and it works fine and I barely play any games on my PC anymore, just find PS4 Pro/X easier to deal with. I don't enjoy pubg/fortnite much either. I'd be excited for Battlefield 5 except it looks pretty boring. RDR 2, Spiderman, Yakuza 2 are the fall games I'm hyped for and those are all console exclusive.

Anthem might be the next big game I play on my PC and thats not till march (?) 2019.

Oh, there's Star Citizen too LOLOL

Safe to assume this means the next console generation is imminent?

Interesting, hopefully this means we will be getting more reasonable priceds options in the next year or two. WTF happened to those pascal cards i was hearing about in late 2017? did Nvidia just never release them as consumer products?

I've been using a RX580 for over a year now and it's fine but i often feel like it has more little bugs and crap in most games then my old Nvidia cards. Hence i'll probably go back to them once they release something thats a fairly large upgrade on my current card in the $150-250 area.

Pascal= 1070/1080 etc. Volta is the one that was meh, with just the Titan cards and stuff releasing super overpriced.

Wouldn't be surprised to see new ones come out winter next year. The Wii U is the only of the major consoles to not come out in the winter (well, technically fall but November may as well mean Christmas when it comes to console releases) since Sony/MS started competing with the PS2/XB. I'd lean toward 2020 though.

I need to look at the API to see how valid this stuff will be. Ray casts typically need some kind of tree or heirarchy or however you speel that to speed things up. Might be some goofiness or latency or heavy bus usage if that stuff needs rebuilding alot. But I guess threads?

Might be limited to simple convex shapes

Guessing with price increase and crypto crashing not much pressure is going to come from miners at least.

That looks worse than Witcher 3 did, or that modded Battlefront 2.

Every game using ray tracing is going to look like ass for a while because they want to show off the tech so they'll slap some garbage reflections everywhere. Should look better when it's done from the start in a few years.

Cards look kinda meh, super expensive. On the other hand I want to buy a new PC at the end of the year and it feels like it'd be a better idea to just grab a 2080 than a 1080 to be more future proof. Guess I'll see what happens until then.

I'm pretty torn. My 960 needs to be replaced, but the prices are stupid. I think I'll wait till late October and see what things look like, and see what the performance improvement actually is.

I want a 2080, but at that price I'm waiting for benchmarks and proper reviews first.

I dunno about this bros. Aside from the extra $200-300 per card, 7nm cards from AMD are due at Q12019 and I imagine Nvidia has to have something in the pipeline for 7nm as well.

Seems like this will be a repeat of the 400 > 500 series for Nvidia.

Yeah, definitely feels like a short lived generation that ends up just bridging the gap between the 1000-3000 series. Having the ti card available at release kind of suggests it as well.

Any benches versus Pascal or we have to wait ?

I'll skip this gen and wait for 7nm if it's just bolted-on GayTracing, I assume when you enable it you drop to 13 FPS like hairworks did until they optimized it.

Not sure why people are even talking about this stuff without seeing real benchmarks and real retail prices.
