So finally hit 60 today. Man the later 50s were a drag. Finally hit it when turning in all the quests for the Dynasty Shipyard.

Nice. You didn't use ranged weapons at all? I use the bow/musket for pulling and for hunting deer and shit that run away so I have been splitting STR/DEX points, but now that my Tracking & Skinning skill is at 200, I'm thinking about respeccing and going full STR/CON.

What has been your favorite weapon to use?

Someone on vg said that once you hit 60, the xp scaling turns off so you can get more weapon xp off lower level mobs. Is this the case?

Why do they need transfers, they have no queues

Because there *were* queues and tons of people were unable to play with their friends on their server of choice. Amazon said they would offer free server transfers later on so people would at least be able to start their characters and level up in the mean time.

Anyone do the Spriggan arena? Tried it with a group last night and we got it to 60% before it started doing a cocoon phase where it massively regens health. Never got it below 75% again because it would just heal up even though we were breaking the cocoon in a couple seconds. We weren’t optimized at all but one of the group members said it looked easy from beta so I’m guessing it was buffed.
All Elite areas and dungeons were buffed for retail.

Servers are up.

That's what I was saying though, the DrLupo video with the dev comments said quests don't count. So it's nice to have, but it doesn't impact your drops.

I also have no idea how you unlock the quest line. I've cleared out everything in Great Cleave. I haven't done any in Shattered Mountain, so maybe that's it? I also read something about Edengrove quests, and I have a few there still.

Edit: Apparently based on the comments, yeah, I need to do SM quests first.

I watched someone highlighting his gear upgrade messages. The little Ive ever watched from Dr. Lupo, its always been those long 5-8 hour streams. But its nice to see thats not his only content. Thats also real sad I still have to grind through all that item level shit, but at least Ill be itemized and far above the content for a while now. Im assuming that the gear that rolls out of chests still qualifies, though.

Okay so the reason it's so annoying they still haven't done a balance patch, despite everyone expecting one at **launch** is because of how imbalanced high level PvP is. There are literally only 3 viable builds. Fire/Ice or Greataxe/Lightstaff or Lightstaff/Ice. You won't get invited to high level 50v50 if you are not a meta build or some kind of streamer. I've been in about 15 wars, 13-2 (lost 2 attacks) and have slowly watched as everyone was forced to get off anything non meta. Certain streamers may not play meta, but if they really cared about the territory and had a true opponent, you'd watch things change as those that knew what's up explained why they were losing. You only lose by not having enough ice storms or not having enough lightstaff, that's literally it right now.


Amber gem was a huge mistake and sadly it seems that the beacon / sacred ground heals persisting despite weapon swap was a mistake too. Which sucks because I love those for pve. And I know, I fucking know, they are just going to blanket nerf them, instead of just making it so they don't work as well in pvp. And that's sad. Although, I mean, light staff is op in pve too tbo.

One shotting level 7 mobs at ranged can give up to 17 exp each. I dunno why everyone says elite areas are best for leveling. I guess if they have great respawn and you have a strong group. But I'm leveling my weapons way faster finding an area I can solo and mass aoe. The lower level the better. Literally I'd take an area full of level 7's if I could, because they still give like 17 exp each and die in a light attack with no weapon stats for said weapon.

Wow, Shattered Mountain quests are hard as fuck. Getting hit for 2k+ in heavy armor. When you get swarmed, it's game over.

I guess I need to get some 500 gear score armor and fast.

Balance isn’t the best but I think you’re exaggerating a bit here. I’ve been invited to every siege I’ve applied to and I’ve been exclusively bow/musket for them. Actually I think you’re severely gimping your siege if you don’t have quite a few bow or musket users. One of the biggest reasons is that both weapons have the longest range in game and do damage to siege weapons. Combining fire takes down cannons quickly and safely.
Aside from that ‘literally only 3 viable builds’ is a ridiculous statement. I’m endgame PvP and I can think of dozens of combos that are viable.

The only weapon that is head and shoulders above everything else is great axe.

Game absolutely needs more synergy between the two weapon choices. Sure there might be OP builds, but dropping buffs / benefits the instant you swap means you miss out on a lot of neat combos.

Of course I can see why... Berzerk from a Hatchet doesnt carry over. But that is the most annoying thing about leveling up with Hatchet. You pop berzerk, then switch to a skinning knife to skin the beast and it drops berzerk so you miss out on like 8 seconds of berzerk heal. Or open a chest. Or Pick a Flower. Its an infuriating design. I would rather it be tuned so that if your first weapon gives you a buff, then it carries over to the second weapon and vice versa. The whole dropping buffs thing could have been handled so much better.

Xerge Xerge , I just did Shipyard and... we didnt wipe once and I didnt change a thing. Even had lower level players this time - the heals were just.. well... good. He was level 51 and the healer I had last night was 56. So.. forget everything I said. lul

Good musket squad is a must for sieges. If you can snipe siege operators ASAP, you shut down a huge advantage for that side.

I became a cannon crew specialist - early on they were looking for people with experience and I mentioned I manned cannons in Archeage for years. Now that I’m used to the arcs and projectile drop/lead times in this game, I’m racking up a lot of kills and neutralizing enemy siege pretty well

Ok the AFK timer kick is just obnoxious now. I got up to make coffee and come back to char out of world. Tab out to answer some emails and come back to char out of world.

Overzealous for servers that don't have ques now.

Edit: Booted me WHILE in the process of reeling in a fish for being AFK now too >_<

Yeah too late but seems like more of a "because we said we were going to do it we are doing it" type of deal. Which is unfortunate because they didn't need to waste time on that just needed a sensible AFK timer for autorun at release.

The only reason would be people who started on different servers than their friends. But that seems like it'd be pretty niche.

I said it last week that the queues are gone, transfers aren't needed. If anything, they're going to need to consolidate soon.

Im starting to respect bow more.

It isnt really useful in 1 v 1 situations but in group battle or against a runner it is amazing. I can out damage anyone in my level range who stays at distance. Firestaff got raped, lifestaff too. I havent seen anyone w a musket yet though.

As an opener though with poison shot is sexy. Its basically impossible to dodge from medium / short range so you can remove 15% of enemy health with 1 shot and then the dot does another 15% or so.

Then I pick my spots with blocking and light attack combos ftw. Im on a win streak rn so im feeling confident. Im sure ill get brought back down to earth soon. Although i havent come c lose to losing a pvp encounter to anyone within 5 lvls of me.
