I would take Romo over any QB in the league other than Brady Brees Manning Rodgers Rivers and Luck. He is not the Cowboy's problem. He might be unlucky as a fucking no leaf clover, but he's not the problem.

The only thing wrong with Romo imho is his back issues. That shit can give out at anytime.

Wasnt it Montana that just twisted his back after an operation that ended his career?

They're getting a mid-season boost in the D-line as well. I certainly hope Lawrence was worth the price they paid.

I think more than anything the Cowboys have shown they can run on anyone they want to. I certainly hope that's the game plan this week with the way Arizona plays defense. That said, with Martin out who knows. Bernadeau knows the scheme but Martin has been a very clear upgrade, despite being a rookie.
Eh, Martin isn't out AFAIK. It's Ron Leary who may not play.

Josh Brent should be back soon, too.

Well Column got himself banned for 3 days, so now we're looking at a 5:1 Cowboy fan to non Cowboy fan poster ratio in this thread

yes because there's a plethora of QBs out there ANYWHERE near Romo's level.

If there are 8 billion people on the planet, like it or not Romo is better than 7,999,999,985 of them at throwing footballs.

There is no suitable replacement outside of the draft.
I agree that he is a great quarterback. But I have absolute zero faith in the QB analysis process for coaches in the NFL. There are good QB's out there sitting on practice squads never given a chance. That can be due to lack of talent in skill positions on the teams, lack of line, and lack of a play caller that understands that your Rookie QB should prob have a little more protection and less reads until he gets how the NFL works. Harbaugh was the best thing to happen to Alex Smith and Kapernick, his scheme when he had those two worked great getting the confidence of a washout(Smith) and a someone who was not good at pass progression(Kapernick). Smith is doing great in KC, Kapernick has some games where he looks like a turd warmed over, but he did get them pretty deep in the playoffs. That's not a fluke. Patriots routinely get a steal of a QB (Hoyer, Mallet, Giropololololo) and just sit them. Hoyer is better than average he just had a torn ACL. I have always been a huge fan of Mallett, he has a strong arm and just needs playtime. My wife is an Eastern Illinois alum and Garoppolololol has a good look the games I saw him play. It's just that since Brady got hurt and came back he has been a machine. Cassel was propped up by a good NE team that year, but his ass got paid for it.

I always wonder if someone like Brady Quinn or Tim Couch or ....pretty much any Cleveland QB that has existed would be better if they weren't perpetually saddled with that shit team. Any of those QB's you see that play scared for their lives would be better if they had a fucking O line the first couple years. Bortles is going to be ruined.

Bortles is going to be ruined.
i like Bortles. I think he'll lead his team to a one-and-done playoff appearance annually. You know, something to be proud of.

You know what's weird is Manning has gone one-and-done 8 times in his career. Weird, 4 times more than any QB in history.

Yeah but hasn't he had more first round bye's than any other QB in history? If not he is up there. Instead of playing a marginal playoff team, and keeping the team sharp, he had to piddle his pecker while his buddies went to strip clubs and beat their wives.

i have no idea why this looks double posted and fucked up. I wrote "regular season touchdowns", edited the pic, reposted as an edit and here's the ugly end result

Out of the top 12 offenses of all time only one of them has won the super bowl. Defense is the most important when the playoffs start, and Manning has had some pretty sub par defenses.

In the year they won they had sanders destroying dudes on the D. Denvers D melted due to injuries near the end. They seem to be keeping healthy and the NFC looks weaker this year. He may sneak another super bowl win in.

If they stay healthy the current Denver squad is probably the best all around team Manning will have going into the playoffs. Probably the only proven elite team in the league right now. Highest scoring offense and the 6th best scoring defense, against the second toughest schedule in the NFL this year.

Rodgers held Favre's clipboard for what, 4 years before he started? I think that was an excellent decision in retrospect. Bears and Cowboys should both be already looking to groom their future quarterbacks.
This. Putting a newly drafted guy in there seldom works out, at least in the long term. Luck is the one guy in recent years to have good success and even he is looking iffy this year. Get a solid number two guy in there. It gives you a backup plan if your marquee guy gets hurt and if the old guy does not retire right away, they make great trade bait and you just rotate in a new guy. Plus a couple years of riding the pine helps with the humility and pressure. GB did this for years until McFatty suddenly decided Rodgers would never get injured for some reason...

I've thought this for a long time. There are tons of QB's that were probably good to maybe even great, but because they didn't ever get good surrounding talent they just faded away. The other thing is you'll get a QB who could have been great but ends up on a terrible team for way too long and it ruins them. Cleveland is a great example, because I feel like Colt McCoy was pretty damn good while there. But it was a shit team and so he just kind of vanished for a while. Now he's on another bad team in Washington, but he flashes greatness for a while.

I know it's another Redskins example, but Kirk Cousins is one too. Had Kirk gone been able to take 2 years to develop, I'd be willing to bet he'd eventually get over his turnovers. Unfortunately no one probably wants to touch him now and so he'll never develop into a starter in the NFL. Meanwhile you've got absolutely fucking horrific QB's that end up starting for entirely too long (anyone on the Jets, Bills, Jaguars, Titans, Texans). It makes people think that there's no talent out there, but it's really just bad scouts and front offices that can't manage a team.

This is getting a bit off topic, but I also feel like the NFL is way too nepotistic. I mean, some of the decisions these people make are really mind boggling; stuff that fans can clearly see are bad ideas. And yet the same group of people bounce around the league for decades.

I dont see a column for how many games they won by cheating through the use of recorded signal footage.

lol @ Luck "looking iffy", Wakandan leads the league in passing.

Don't disagree with your sentiment in general tho.
