I was going to make this comment earlier in the week but he was over throwing a lot in practice last week which indicates him not being very comfortable and that typically leads to more overthrowing in games. I think he just needs to settle in and his accuracy will improve. Not much of a concern at this point, rookie jitters
He is good short and shit every where else, read his scouting reports the guy is a known overthower with next to no touch down field and known for sailing passes high. Comes to the NFL and in his first preseason game nothing has changed, you can hope for improvement all you want but the guy has the exact same issues the scouts talked about.
STRENGTHS
Tall with an athletic, proportional build that is made for the NFL position. Played in a pro-style attack with plenty of snaps under center. Asked to make NFL throws and showed he could do it. Stands tall in the pocket and delivers with a relatively high release point. Keeps ball high and tight in the pocket and can uncork it quickly with tight, sharp release and little wasted motion. Throws catchable ball with tight spiral. Naturally accurate passer.
Has plus deep ball accuracy and touch
If he can get better with timing his accuracy will obviously improve. It's one of his biggest flaws.
Scroll down and read the weaknesses and it mentions his weaknesses down field. That's just the NFL page, why don't you go read what the other scouts have said about his deep ball and intermediate and his propensity to be flat, overthrow and high.
I've read a few reports. It's mixed. There are plenty that say he's accurate, especially with the deep ball. It's a 50/50 shot with him. Of course you want him to bust but i can't say either way. He has all the tools, he needs coaching on his throwing mechanics and timing. Most rookies do. He's got a lot of good coaches working with him.
I guess.. He made some really impressive throws as well. Not sure why you think that video is some damning piece of evidence against his future. He made some bad throws for sure, but he also made some good ones. I thought he did better than expected finding the open receiver. Most of his bad throws were under a lot of pressure. His best throw was aactually a throw a lot of QBs struggle to make. He's got a cannon.
Because he barely completed half his passes, missed badly on a wr who didn't have a defender within 10 yards, threw a pick that was indicative of every bad trait scouts said about him.
High, no touch, over throws. Just watch that video and keep those words in mind, it fits to a T what the scouts were saying. Dude could be the next Montana but that tape isn't good.
