And we don't have to use our last challenge and can save it for later in the game if needed.

Exactly. Same shit they do now on fumbles even when they totally don't think it's a fumble, b/c they get the auto review to check.

Although sometimes that fucks teams over when there isn't enough evidence to overturn, like us in Week 1

Man I wanted Hooker in the draft for the Skins. But I knew he wouldn't fall to us (not that I was unhappy with Allen).

How bad are the Browns? This had to be a game Browns fans started circling as a "we can win this one!" game. Then that happened. Shit. That's rough.

Dalton's TD:INT ratio in the past five Browns games is like 13:0.

Man, what the fuck happened to the Colts? When it's 18-18 when you have to to bed because it's a work night and see 46 points the next morning...

The offense woke up... and Brisset put the ball on the ground that the defense scooped/scored on.

Who is worse, the 49ers or the Browns?

I cant believe Im actually asking this question in 2017, but its a real question.

Not to get into the weeds, but Im probably one of the more passionate 49er fans on these boards. There are some of you guys that are older and followed the team longer, and have lived through their true glory years. But I have followed this team since I was 6 years old, and I know this because I remember being at my moms boyfriends place ( my future stepdad, sadly) and I remember everyone watching the TV with great interest. I wasnt really interested but I remember hearing John Madden saying "Mark Rypen took a lot of criticism, but now he has a chance to be a Super Bowl Winning QB" or something like that. The term Super Bowl caught my attention, and I happened to watch the 3rd quarter on, where the Redskins beat the Buffalo Bills. That was the 1990-1991 season.

The year before I vaguely remember the 49ers and Joe Montana being on commercials and being in the mainstream media, as they won had won 2 straight titles before the Redskins beat the bills that year (unbeknownst to me). So after the game I asked about Mark Rypen and people said he sucked and the Redksins were only good because of John Riggins. I ended up buying his jersey when I was 23. Anyway, from that point on I began watching sportscenter, reading newspaper articles about sports and the NFL,as well as listening to the radio. At the time there was a lot of NFL Films episodes on, and they were dominated by 49er feats etc, whcih I think casued me to become a 49er "fan". For some reason I became infatuated with the 49ers that next 1991-1992 season. They lost to the Cowboys in the NFC Championship and then the Cowboys beat the Bills. The next year I watched them lose to the Cowboys again...and watched them beat the Bills....again.

But when they got Neon Deion and William Floyd...it was over. Ricky Watters was a monster that year, dude probably had like 8 concussions because he was such a gruesome runner. He had some shiftiness, but he always fought for extra yards. Floyd would just blast people when blocking for him, then providing as a rusher in short yardage situations. Deion Sanders won defensive MVP that year, I think there was some sick stat that had only 12 pass attempts to him for like 10 games or something including the playoffs. Then you had Steve Young, Jerry Rice, with Watters on offense (they had a great TE too cant remember his name, dude was clutch) Merton Hanks lead the league in interceptions that year, and they had Ken Norton Jr at inside linebacker.

Then Deion went back to the Cowboys and they won again, and the 49ers have hired coaches like Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary, Jim Tomsula, and Chip Kelly (shout out to to the Mooch though, he wasnt bad). They had a good 97-98 season with Owens and company, but were awful from 99-2010. They went to 3 straight NFC Championships with Harbaugh, and were a feared, and respected team. A play away from winning the SuperBowl....

Now they are 0-4 and their new regime got a 6 year leash. They could be bad until 2020 which doesnt seem that crazy. By then Lynch would be going on year 4, and if they are still bad York will just fire him and start over again. If Shanahan is an impostor and this team continues to flounder they might not even get to 2020. York will eat the money. Bryan Hoyer is a disgrace. I understand they just plugged him in there to make it until they can draft a franchise QB next year, but jesus christ its fucking embarrassing. They have had 5 good seasons in 23 years......

My next door neighbor is a Seahawks fan, and him and I have a friendly little war going on right now.

It started with me hanging my 49ers flag on his house, and him in turn taking it down (and hiding it from me!) and his 12 man flag at our house. Then I found a Seahawks sticker/emblem thing stuck on the back window of my car. It was only on for a day or so before I found it. Thankfully I was getting my car washed the next day and I had them remove it.

That night I put my 49ers license plate frame on his car, and it is still on there. It has been 2 weeks now. I mean really how often do you look at your rear license plate? So I feel like I am currently winning the battle, team records be damned!

I won't argue how passionate of a fan you may be, but these struggles they are going through now are just part of being a fan. I have hopes that the 49ers have the right people in place now to turn it around and start bringing them back. They may win fewer games than they did last year, but I can already see vast improvements. While yes they need more talent across the board, much of the issues they have faced this year are self inflicted. Dumb mistakes and way too many penalties.

The Browns may very well be better than the 49ers this year. And I know a lot of people see the Browns as on the right track as well, but I doubt they turn it around before the 49ers. For some reason I just don't think the Browns will ever be able to pull out of their misery!

The 49ers played in the super bowl 5 years ago. There are a bunch of teams that haven't sniffed a super bowl in a lot longer than that and there are 13 franchises that have never won a superbowl and 4 that have never even played in one. We have very little to complain about despite the fact that we've had a couple shitty streaks recently.

Nobody can build a good team in one year unless there are a lot of good building blocks already in place and there really wasn't much in SF. We had Bowman, Hyde, Trent Brown, Armstead, Buckner, Reid, Ward, Justin Smith, and not much else as far as players who could start on most NFL teams. That's not a lot to build from. They had a great draft but it just takes more than a year to build a competitive team from nothing.

49ers/Cards was a shit show yesterday but it was entertaining if you like seeing quarterbacks get squished which I do. I really felt sorry for Palmer by the end of the game. He's a big dude but I don't see how he lasts the season taking that many hits and while our D line isn't bad, there are a lot better pass rushing teams in the league than the 49ers. I was disappointed that I never heard Aaron Lynch's name yesterday. I had high hopes for him as a pass rusher but if he couldn't get in the mix yesterday then I don't know when he can.

Hoyer got hit a lot less but it seemed like he was more rattled by it than Palmer and he was just flat not accurate in the second half. As mediocre as Goodwin has been, I was missing him after he was gone because I don't know whose fault it was but it's hard to imagine a QB/Receiver being more out of sync than Hoyer and Aldrick Robinson were yesterday. Hoyer targeted him like 6 times in the second half and didn't even come close to hitting him for whatever reason. The biggest bright spot for me in the game was Trent Taylor. The kid looks like Julian Edelman out there. Seems like he has a bright future if he can stay healthy.

Lynch didn't actually record a sack, but I saw him in there a few times causing some pressure. While I am in the camp with you that was hoping this would finally be his breakout year, at this point I just don't think it is ever going to happen. He will always be an OK edge rusher, and that's about it.

Oh, and it took the Bears long enough
