Support your team more (build them a stadium like almost every other city does) and you'll keep your team. I have no sympathy for local fans that vote against their own interests when it comes time to build stadiums, then whine and cry when the team leaves.

You do know that not everyone in a city likes football, or follows, but everyone pays taxes.

And in the case of Vegas, only .8% of a 13% tax on hotel rooms is the Vegas contribution to the stadium. In a bit of a unique situation to create that kind of opportunity. Something like just under $1 per room goes to the stadium, many in Las Vegas won't pay a dime for it.

And that's why I understand voters choosing not to spend the money. Just don't play the victim card when another city votes to pay for it and the team moves.

Cost of doing business. If you don't pay for the stadium, another city will. Either fork over the money or wave bye-bye. I understand not wanting to vote to spend the money that way, but don't act like a fucking victim when another city steals your team. Suck it up, buttercup, and deal with the consequences of your decisions.
Again, the issue at hand here is that taxpayers, many of which don't give a fuck about football, are being forced to line the pockets of these jew bag owners who are already billionaires several times over. Oakland should be commended for not putting up with this shit.

Look, retardo here is a Cowboys fan and somehow thinks each and every Raiders fan living in Oakland should be punished because the entire area didn't collectively vote to pay for a new stadium.

Give them a standing ovation and a fucking parade. Just make sure they buy Sunday Ticket so they can watch their precious Raiders in 2020.

Also, a lot of longstanding rules and beliefs will be changing by the time they move IMO.

Currently NFL officials aren't even allowed to come to Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

Probably be a lot of movement in general on sports betting in this country by 2020.

You're alone on this one, Hoss. Taxpayers should not be the ones left on the hook to support their team. Especially when privately funded stadiums have been a thing recently. The San Francisco Giants park was privately funded and so is the new Warriors stadium they're building in SF.

Dolphins owner statement:

“My position today was that we as owners and as a League owe it to fans to do everything we can to stay in the communities that have supported us until all options have been exhausted. I want to wish Mark Davis the Raiders organization the best in Las Vegas.”

Stand up guy. Makes me proud to be a Dolphan.

I bet you are.

The bad news is that taxpayers are definitely still helping to subsidize their billionaire football team owner's new project. The county will give Ross up to $5 million annually — for a total of up to $75 million — in exchange for luring big events such as the Super Bowl.

I don't gamble so fill me in. Is their any reason they wouldn't be betting on the game just because it is local?

The summary is that Leagues wouldn't let Vegas allow bets on games that occur there because it would be easier for Vegas/people affiliated with Vegas to fix games that were local.

That's a faulty idea for two reasons: 1) In the internet era, fixing a game hardly needs to be done in person, and 2) Casinos make their money on the vig (the percentage of the bet that the casinos simply keep), and ideally adjust the lines until people are betting equally on both sides of a bet. Risking your entire hundreds of millions dollar operation just to sway one set of bets is highly unlikely, and will result in the FBI up your colon / you left dead in a ditch in the desert.

I can't help but think this move to Vegas is going to backfire hard. I wonder how the Oakland fan base will react to this. Will be an interesting few years considering they wouldn't start in Vegas til 2020.

Lifetime Raiders fan, live in San Diego now. Raider fans have been through this rodeo before (Los Angeles 80s - 90s). We travel well. Moving to Vegas sucks for Oakland, and most of us wish they could stay there but we are a loyal bunch. Vegas works.

As for building stadiums in California, it isn't going to happen on the public's dime anymore. You have too high a hurdle to get them approved. 67 percent of the local vote has to be for it. Not gonna happen. That's why the Chargers ended up moving to Los Angeles even though the Spanos family HATES the Rams owner (who is paying for the stadium there). Just like in Oakland, there is no fucking way a stadium can get built in San Diego with public funds.

As much as I wish the Raiders and Chargers could have stayed put, I'm fine with the voters saying fuck you to the NFL.
