I can't imagine so. Especially not when there is so much more for them to blame. Who knows though, hockey fans are weird. I see people on the Rangers trade board saying they don't want him for what he'd cost. That's just nuts, there's not much I wouldn't part with to get him to NY, and you make that salary work because he's worth it.I wonder if McDavid will be blamed as the problem

When they say 'what he'd cost' though, I assume Edmonton would set a price so ridiculously high nobody would/could really match it.
I guess. That's the real question though, what would it even take?
I'd probably do any 2 of Laf/Fox/Kakko/Kravtsov, any of our top D prospects, a roster player or two and 2 1sts. I'd throw in a third 1st if it meant keeping any of the preceding or another D or G (where EDM are weak) to keep a forward. Who knows if that even gets it done though. Both fanbases would hate it, but both teams would be better than they are today.
Its one of those trades where McDavid is so good you will never get anything worth trading him for. And if you are the team trading for him, you would have to give up so much, that your team would just end up being like Edmonton is currently.
All 4 of those forwards listed for the NYR dont even add up to 1 McDavid. So saying you would only do 2 of them is a fucking joke. You would trade all 4 of them if you got McDavid.
I get what he means, it's kind of like fantasy football stud RB's. Depending on how the rest of your team is (if you have solid other guys, or at least solid enough), there's just no benefit in moving one of those rare guys who can give you such high value in the one spot they occupy, even for X amount of other good players. I will say Fox isn't a forward, he's a stud 1D in the Norris discussion, and if you could somehow put together a 1D like that, with a 1C and a 1st line wing...all on cheap contracts, you could MAYBE start thinking about a realistic possibility. But I agree the other guys aren't on that level.
