Something has got to change for Dallas. Move some pieces around to get more physicality? Let DeBoer go? A really disappointing series, especially considering Benn, Granlund, Duchene are all free agents etc.

Barkov decided he had enough of Carolina. What an absolute beast of a play and pass.

Losing Hyman really hurts, but Edmonton still has a good chance to beat Florida if Skinner stays hot. Then again, is he hot because he's hot, or is Dallas just not good enough to pressure Edmonton's defense and create enough high danger chances? Its hard to say with matchups between teams.

If Dallas can win 1 more game that would be a big difference; Edmonton waited until the playoffs to start making hits, and the hits are 188 - 116 in favor of Edmonton in the WCF. It takes energy to hit though, just like it takes energy to get hit. Rest vs. Rust is always a question, but with Edmonton and Florida both being physical i would take a couple extra days if it were a choice.

Panthers in 7 (Sorry Dallas I have no faith you will beat the Oilers).

I don't think Dallas has near the scoring power of Florida. Carolina has one of the best defenses in the league and panthers chewed it up. The only thing that the Oilers can do is hope McAlien goes Galactic Surfer and puts the series on his back with the help of the German Sharpshooter.

Panthers are the better team top to bottom I don’t think it’s really a question but the Oilers are playing with the sauce of not having won one yet. My heart is with the Panthers but my head is telling me they are going to lose some close ones early and not be able to dig themselves out of the early hole. Hope I’m wrong.

A pretty funny read for the sexual assault case against the 5 world juniors players. The girl verbally consented....twice, acted like a porn star, encouraged the guys to fuck her but the guys should have known she wasn't consenting.

Mrs. Haus Mrs. Haus just let off a stream of exasperated sighs and explicatives and walked out of the living room at 0-2 saying she was going to run her bath, before the bath was ready it was 0-3....

This team has rolled over.

And I don't even know what to say as to what to address. Do you ditch the coach who has made the WCF 6 of the last 7 years but hasn't gotten the Stars past it? The goalie who apparently folds like a cheap suit after his playoff expiration date? The only really "old guys who need to probably hang it up" are Benn and Seguin, Benn has no contract after.. well tonight probably. Seguin is only under contract through next year. On paper they have a team which should be cooking.

Interesting game. I sure as heck hope the Oilers can keep the energy up. Florida is going to come in to the finals more physical than they have been all year, and that's saying something.

I think Pete is gone. Pulling Ottinger in an elimination game after 2 goals when neither were his fault and put fucking Desmith in was fucking retarded. Especially when they still score right after off the softest goal ever.

You are right. I've been thinking about a reply for a couple of hours now, but I think Dallas should roll the dice with a new coach, and change the identity with several additions. IMO the biggest thing to me is that there are really only 2 types of NHL players: those who show up in the playoffs, and those who don't. Dallas doesn't need to hit any home runs in the offseason to be a contender, just a few singles and doubles.

In the post game Deboer talked about pulling Oettenger. Awash in the usual "wake the team up" coash speak, but then included the tidbit of "He's lost 6 of his last 7 against the Oilers in the playoffs and let it 2 in the first 5 minutes of the game".

IMHO, and it's only from a fan perspective....
  • Retire Benn - Maybe offer him a coaching position or front office to keep him around. But you can't even do what they did with Hull as the "Commissioner of fun" public face of the club as he seems to HATE talking to the public. At best a 1 year deal at a ridiculous team friendly number so he can have a retirement tour and official "hand off the C" to someone else. Maybe Wyatt Johnston.
  • Fix Otter, or get a good enough goalie you can just pivot to him when Otter hits his "second round of the playoffs expiration date" next year. I say this and I love the guy as a goalie. Maybe a new goalies coach?
  • Shuffle the coaching staff - If not a HC change, then at least bring in a new offensive coordinator type to revamp the offense. This round's offense was a pathetic shitshow.

I find it really hard to blame deboer, i still think he did a fantastic job with vegas and he's made the conference finals every year for what 6 years?
it was easy to praise rantanen last series and then he just didnt show up at all this series but nobody wants to point fingers there despite saying he was the goat of the avs and fucked toronto over

edit: now that im sober, god damn he went HARD on otter, he's definitely getting fired lmao

That post-game from Pete was something. Absolutely torched Otter. I mean, yes, he was dog shit this series after being nails last series... But damn man, when the Oilers have 1 vs 0 crashing the net, what do you expect?

  • Barring Benn coming back on a league minimum, you have to move on. He just doesn't offer anything in the playoffs anymore.
  • You signed Dumba and then didn't play him at all in the playoffs... Buying him out opens a $2.1m /year over the next two years if you can't trade him.
  • Trade Marchment?
I know some fans are dreaming of some way to bring in Sam Bennett - seems extremely unlikely unless they could completely unload Marchment and Dumba.

I saw this today and it seems like a viable plan.... I figure some parts of this will end up weaseling their way into reality.
