This might be some kind of viral marketing to announce a new nier game. This user posted a month ago on reddit asking how to open the church in the game which doesnt exist. Didnt get too much attention. Starting post videos of this new area a few days ago and caused the nier reddit to go insane.

Funny you posted this today cause it just got resolved, it's modded stuff, which was kinda expected since marketting would have been a bit weird to do it this way.

Ah bummer it is not a new game. But a good way to get the mod community excited for official mod tools being released.

Was kind of interesting but even if it had been something official it would almost certainly have been marketing for the Switch version and not anything truly new anyway.

nah, my rule nowadays is never buy a game unless i am 100% gonna play the same day, these kinda games just show up on gamepass eventually

ironically though nier automata left gamepass today after being on there a year, but i plat'd it a while back. loved the game, but i've heard replicant isn't quite as good either, makes sense its a remaster of a much older game.
I bought replicant last black Friday on XBOX for 20 bucks and just got around to playing it a couple weeks ago. I'll go ahead and be in the minority and say I like it more than automata. Might even look for the original nier to play next..

I also like being a luddite and owning physical media. I'll pass on the digital library shit.

i think i own a physical copy of replicant, bought on the same $20 sale, but still haven't played. Its currently $30 on the PSN store (same on xbox, steam, etc I assume) but probably would rather play xenoblade 3 right now

anyways

i don't really get it but i don't really care enough to figure it out either

Nier 1 is Square's most acclaimed game this century, or Nier Automata?

Cause Nier 1 is basically trapped on PS3 now, so I'll need to check that out, unless Nier Replicant is a close-enough remake of it?

(I haven't played any of them yet, but they've been on the shortlist for years along with Nioh)

Automata is the one that got a lot of people into Nier and got a lot of success. Hell the IP is still being kept alive just from collabs which are still extremely common for a game released such a long time ago and for most people Automata is the "main" Nier with the previous ones just being stuff people go back to to check it out including Drakengard. On the flipside it's somewhat realistic for them to not want another game to compete with their own big game until it's over. Hopefully they do a new Nier game once they're done with FF7. Not that I agree with the decision but it makes financial sense, to an extent. They could have tried to just release them a year a part and it'd have been fine it's not like FF7 is a yearly release.

dunno how different Nier Replicant is from Nier 1 but I played Nier Automata first, absolutely LOVED it and it stuck with me for years. Played Nier Replicant last year when it was added to PS+ and really enjoyed it, a lot shorter and simpler than Nier Automata but still very interesting and cool lore/setting. The youtube lore videos around the series are fantastic too.

Such a shame its not a vibrant IP with new releases every few years, while Stellar Blade isn't exactly like either game I did enjoy it a lot and it did have that same world vibe.
