Yeah, I think this would also be a good case study of Nintendo as i have said- basically accurately knowing and meeting demand in a way unseen by basically any big electronic company. For hardware etc.

The proper demand fulfillment killed and dulled scalping not lack of demand.

They can add so much stuff to the free roam world / aspect that I am sure there is going to be a big DLC - and as you cannot just add a course without adding "land", it adds to both.

Elimination mode is fun, but not the best for when you have the little ones playing along- in cup races you just turn on auto drive and steer and they have a good ol time and get dragged along- but in that they just get cut and are sad pandas.... NO PARTICIPATION MEDAL FOR YOU SON!

This is an underrated comment. Yes while new Mario Kart is one of the few launch titles, with basically full backwards comparability and game upgrades available it wasn't a console killer like it could have been.

no joke, i was more looking forward to playing windwaker again than any switch 2 launch title.

imagine, playing an actual zelda game with items that you use the whole time you're playing the game. a sword that doesn't break. playing songs akwardly with a stick.

I don't know how breath of the tears of the wild kingdom looks so inspiring but then has such dog shit game mechanics.

Yeah Mario kart has always been a game that to me has been boring unless you have a few people with you to play with.

On Zelda, I don’t like the weapon break mechanic by any means and think it should have been removed and weapon acquisition completely redesigned, but people that call the game dog shit and can’t get past it are extreme. It’s still an overall good game in spite of that bad feature. There’s a lot of really cool things the game does really well.

Donkey Kong does look pretty fun, but not $80 fun

One thing on the whole packaging fiasco where people were stapling into the screen, I thought for sure that it was crazy that Nintendo had the screen on the top facing out in the packaging, but I opened up an iPad that we got for the kids, and it was packaged in exactly the same manner. Guess it takes retarded game stop employees to really show the flaw in that packaging configuration.

the game isn't dogshit, but weapon breaking is. having to click a little menu every fucking time you want to shoot a fire arrow or seed arow is. having to scroll through 95 items to find a flint to throw on a log to start a fire is. having to watch vegitables bounce every time i want to cook a meal is. FOUR dungeons kind of is.

though to be fair . zelda has always been kind of retarded in that you get a stupid message EVERY TIME you pick up a ruby explaining to you how currency works. or how seeds work or whatever. i guess some of the retarded repetition has been in zelda this whole time, but we were just distracted by better combat mechanics and item progression.

some one in the develoment of that game did some HEAVY lifting because the game is good inspite of a lot of wreched design decisions

The weapon breaking mechanic is the reason I stopped playing. It was the first time that I started a Zelda game and did not finish. It just did not feel like a Zelda game to me. My kids loved it though.

I thought it was dogshit boring. I bought a Switch to play TotK (having never played the original BotW) because friends kept acting as if it was the second coming of Christ. The game is just a massive collection-fest with single brain cell combat mechanics. And, yeah, the constant menu accessing is TERRIBLE design. I accept the fact that the graphics weren't going to be mind blowing, and I can appreciate the world design, but that super annoying haze that permeates the view really distracts from what beauty could be there.

BotW was a better game. All the kids in my neighborhood loved it. My son played through it multiple times. TotK they were all super excited for but they all gave up on it really quick. They got tired of stopping the gameplay to constantly build shit. They only played it for a couple weeks, none of them beat it. The dungeons were cool, just like the first, but the little temple things were terrible.

I stopped playing because the writing was so lazy. Every single temple you beat had the same exact interaction with the ancestor ghost passing powers to the new guardian, they shake Link's hand and you go do the same boring shit again. Finding the dragon tears was compelling but all of those scenes should have happened naturally through the game, in a specific order, rather than you having to go hunt them down and see them randomly.

ToTK suffered greatly because they could not just build upon BOTW in its story, like they should have - they had to completely re-invent the entire world again.

In zelda its like "OH BACK IN THE DAY" and that BACK IN THE DAY is just whatever, whenever for whatever random crap they want to do - rather than establishing a rich history, its always a one trick excuse to justify whatever is going on in "the current era" - and its VERY glaring when its a game set just a few years after the first and it shares NONE of its "back in the day" history...

Just like Skyward Sword was to put and end to that, to show and establish THE BEGINING as a game, with its own stuff you get to play and exp... yet it itself still had BACK IN THE ANCIENT TIMES crap
