"Everything old is...still old, but we expect you to pay for it again lol"

I haven't used my Switch 2 since July. Been trying to figure out if there's anything upcoming that would make sense to play on it, like something retro-style, just to get some sort of use out of it again.

as long as this exists:

I dunno why anyone would bother paying for Nintendo anymore. It's not a price thing, it's an ethics thing.

Combined with the fact that they just upped their US legal division head to Nintendo America CEO...

I haven't personally played a lot of switch 2. I 'finished' windwaker (i'm on the last boss and am waiting for the kids to want to see the ending). played some mario kart with the kids.

mostly they play on it, or the wife plays stardew valley.

I mostly just find myself playing games with interesting mechanics and replayability and comfort to play (keyboard and mouse) so i find myself playing like rimworld again rather than seeing whats up on the switch.

Still for a kids' gaming system it's pretty unparalelled.
Steam deck blows switch 2 away as a kids system. It’s cheaper and has a massive library advantage. You don’t get access to nintendos three 1st party games worth playing but oh well, fuckin cry about it kids.

nintendo upped wallet balance to $800 (from $250) and now allows you to buy anything on the nintendo physical store (clothes, games, consoles, everything) with eshop money. pretty nice since its pretty easy to get 10-20% discounts on eshop codes all the time

Because Bowser the same guy who was helping run EA for awhile, walked away from Nintendo... That should give you a hint about the type of Company Ninshitdo is now.

a electric grappling hook is so passe, psychic grappling hook!

bike section looked fake and gay, still does... plot setup seems kinda lame duck imo, but well... not that the classic mainlines had much of a setup either soo..

Here's hoping the new NoA CEO Jimmy Ganondorf is up to the task!

it's like a reverse girl boss. they took a competent solitary character. and gave her some (dude?) to nag her and tell her what to do! very odd.

If he dies you game over, it's a forced escort leash mechanic on top of everything else.
There are a total of six of these NPC characters in the game including Mackenzie, one for each area. Similar to him, there will likely be scripted segments where you meet them and/or save them, and then they serve as remote communicators for their specific area.

In what universe is this necessary in a Metroid game?

Let's shit up the next Dark Souls game by adding Jar Jar Binks as a navigator who never shuts up while we're at it.

After 8 years of waiting, I gotta say, this is the first time I've been legitimately angry about a piece of media in a very long time.

This has been a notorious Nintendo thing for a while now - create some kind of time-waster to make the game seem longer.

It's worse then that they put a trademark lawyer into his place..

Feel free to move this if it deserves it's own thread. Was a huge fan of the MP series and more than a little stoked to give this a try.

Looks like garbage, and it sounds like even more garbage from the most recent reviews.. WTF is this shit.

I'm gonna wait and make my own opinion because in my experience, the Metroid Prime games are never appreciated early on because Nintendo rarely goes for the obvious sequel formula of "make same game betterer" and instead goes in bonkers new directions no one asked for.

I recall Metroid Prime being judged harshly becasue it was in 3D and not as platform-heavy as the classic games, and the constant need to scan the entire environment if you want a 100% save file in case you miss that one data log entry hidden behind a crate somewhere.

I recall Metroid Prime 2 being judged harshly because of its light and dark mechanics and completely alien environment that was a big departure from the more established lore.

I recall Metroid Prime 3 being judged harshly because of the other bounty hunters making it less of an introspective solitary experience than previous games, and the heavy emphasis on grappling beam mechanics.

And while I haven't seen any reviews yet because I'm going to see the game for myself before that, I see it being judged harshly because of the futuristic motorcycle, and the talking heads / escort NPCs apparently yapping all the time (that was also a thing in Metroid Other M and Dread, lots of conversations with a talking head).

It might very well be a poor entry in the franchise, I don't know yet, after all it had to be entirely canned and remade from the ground up so that rarely bodes well, but this franchise is now quite dear to the heart of many players and people are demanding remasters of MP2 and MP3 now but they weren't really getting raving reviews when they came out either.

I feel similar to this. I'm a huge metroid fan and they typically make at least an average or better game with the series, but most on the higher end in my mind. Other M sucked enough but mostly for some narrative stuff like don't use varia suit while your face melts off, but overall game was average, not complete shit, just average. Controller i can see what they were going for but it was good for what it was and sucked for what it could have been.

I'll wait to play myself as a fan to see what it really is and hope the retarded leadership didnt have as much input as the youtubers are inferring.

Yeah but in all of Metroid prime they have never had an annoying ass fuckwad treating Samus like they were 10 years old completely interrupting the atmosphere of the game. That video is pretty fucked up. “Hey I hear you can shoot this door!” “Hey did you save??” “Hey save point over there!” “Turn into a ball!!! You can roll through that!” It would be one thing, although very poorly done, for a tutorial if you could turn that dipshit off, but my God.

And that was literally the first companion. How bad are they other ones? And why even have companions in the first place? Metroid has always been about isolation and atmosphere.

Also escort missions? 😳

Holy Fuck who did they have making this?

Other M/Fusion are bad just cause of the fucking hand holding, as Arloo said it takes out the actual tension of the game..

Prime 1/2 both had very very minimal hand holding(If I remember right it took a while for info to be given to the player.)

Prime 3 , was not the "Prime 3" that Retro wanted to make, they were forced into making a fucking tech demo for the Wii.

The whole point of the games is exploring alien worlds, not listening too some shit head screaming about every little thing they see.
