For the people who hate constantly sorting through a bunch of armor drops:

UnarmoredDeath.jpg

It's about a 60% damage increase overall. Obviously risky since most burst attacks and some other "you should probably dodge this" boss moves will one-shot you, but I've been playing that way for the last 4-5 hours with only a couple surprise deaths.

Edit: forgot to mention, the "Damage Bonus (Equipment Weight) - A" line comes from max rank of one of the Collection titles.

Little tip about tonfas being the ideal ninja weapon to use -- it's the only weapon type you can craft that's guaranteed to have an element imbued (water). The moveset is just as strong as it was in Nioh 2 as well. Just don't go too crazy at the forge or you will burn through all your gold and you're gonna need a ton of it later.

Damage is insane with the low health damage boost magic as well.

Any advice on the blacksmith as far as what I should be Soul Extracting and what I should be disassembling? I don't think Soul Extracting was in the previous games, so I would just literally disassemble everything I didn't use.

25 hours in, just got to the snow area - having a blast. One mild criticism though, is pacing - end of Act 1 was like 5 bosses straight after going over 5 hours without a single boss. Not a big complaint, just weird how back loaded all the bosses were.

Can't believe you're having trouble. Seems super easy to me.

LOL at his level, yeah I could come back but just got him at level 76. Got a bunch of level 90 loot from him so guessing you should be about that level when fighting him.

Beat the demo and believe I've exhausted everything I could do in it. Two tries to beat the boss, could have been one but pushed it a little too much on the first try. Think I was 18 or 19 when I walked in. Now level 23 overall. Six deaths in total which feels extremely low but maybe that's because I've played all of 1 and 2. That or like others have said, it's the demo and they don't want everyone running for the hills. When the 10 bosses in a room at the same time comes then I'll know my nightmare begins.

Level 95, think I'm far enough in now to declare this is one of the best action games of all time. I love this game.

So far those little scampuss fuckers are easily best summon I have lol

Nioh 3 has summons? Like Elden Ring ashes? Is that a thing in Nioh 2 as well, because Nioh 1 sure didn't, har.

When playing Nioh 3's demo I used the blue phantoms a couple times for tough spots, that was a welcome assist and kinda like a summon.

Nioh 3 is getting SUPER good reviews. People comparing it to Elden Ring and stuff. Wow. It has replaced Nioh 2 as the "best non-Fromsoft Soulslike" on everybody's list, from what I'm hearing.

Speaking of Nioh 2, I made a character in it, going to tool around, might give that a legit go next when I've got time, hopefully won't bounce off of it as much as the first. A couple friends of mine are also trying to get into Nioh since 3 has people hyped.

Team Ninja done good, it's nice to see a series not get run into the ground in current year.

Soul cores and magic work different now. Soul cores have two abilities tied to them. One consumable (you get up to 6? of them you can equip as you level/defeat crucibles). That's how to get various things that were usually in the magic tree of Nioh 2 (like sloth talisman, the revive talisman and such). Then the other ability is to summon the mobs tied to the soul core similarly to Nioh 2 (where it does an attack).

Unlike the Ninja skills, when in that form, that replenish as you fight, the skills tied to soul cores only replenish when you rest at shrines like Nioh 2.

Hit 102 and third area, 35 hours in. Magic build is working well, I have a three charge massive AoE fire spell that allows me to just destroy packs of whatever. Sitting at 188 luck with lots of room for improvement.

They do like reusing while set pieces though.

Envy demon was cake compared to the first one, levels make a huge difference. For those stuck just run some co-op missions for 4-10 levels and come back. Unless you looking for Sekiro level of challenge, can just throw stats at the problem.

Sadly I noticed when playing co-op my frames tanked, not sure I have a fix besides new computer/CPU. Game is suffering from what happened to wilds, expanded world at the cost of optimization. Janx Janx said he played almost entire first area in co-op with no issues and no consumables required.

This could be the action co-op game everyone has been looking for. I have found multiple support spells as well if you want to help the group.

Certain fights are solo only though.

So what's everyone's take on what to do with excess items?

This is my current method, not sure if I'm missing out on anything though --

1. Disassemble everything that gives material essences in addition to basic mats. Especially Material Essence (Life Recovery) and (Item Drops) as they're the most important things in the game imo. You can put Life Recovery (Amrita Gained) on everything in Nioh 3, and also Gain Amrita (Strong Attack) on a few slots.

2. Soul Extraction on all items with a +1 or better. This seems to be the only way to gain Azure Soul Cores.

3. Then go to the clan battle guy and donate everything for item of the day/week. Both gold and rare materials are worth doing it for.

4. And now the annoying part. You're going to need both yellow soul cores and gold in the millions. I've been extracting samurai and selling ninja gear just to save at least some effort, but you could also just sell one entire batch and then extract the next.

The 'go to' for most things is just using triangle-square or triangle-triangle-square for Heavenly Chain spam. Mountain Breaker Lightning is extremely effective on anything that doesn't smack you out of the air every time you try to do it. Hold triangle in mid-air is still super effective against a lot of big and/or flying enemies. Shove does heavy ki damage. Storm of Strikes was good early but later on I feel like it gets punished a lot more. I will try using it again once I get the "Shadow" upgrade.

Pretty much everything else I ignore. It's all just added complexity to do what Heavenly Chain spam can easily handle with just two buttons and no special timing required.
