Nice timing on that trailer right after Nintendo's patent bullshit got another major slapdown.

It's about 1000% better than it was at release. Whether or not it's "good" depends entirely on what you're looking for. It's on Game Pass, so I've tried many times to get into it but I always lose interest after a few hours because wide-open sandbox games just really aren't my thing anymore I guess. Tried it again last week and I got as far as the point where the game tells you "just go make some money to buy the parts for your hyperdrive". Nothing I have is worth anything compared to the cost, and I have no idea what actually is lucrative. I could go look up some guide for how to make infinite units, but that kind of defeats the purpose so instead I ended up just playing something else.

I think the tutorial stuff has gotten worse as the game has had more and more content added. I don't ever remember bouncing off it this quickly before. If you have the patience to get over the initial learning curve I think there's a great game in there.

Is this game good? Never played it for more than a few minutes
No, but at the same time I got it at launch and have like 500 hours in it. I'm a sucker for open world games and exploring everywhere though. Get high and see what I could find. I probably put in about 100 hours at launch. I got to the center of the galaxy and then there was nothing to do so I stopped playing it for 4-5 years. One of the updates broke that save so I started a new one but since I was familiar with the resource collection bullshit it wasn't hard for me to "beat" the game again in a much shorter time than the first run. I revisit it when a new expedition drops but I don't play much outside of that anymore. I do love the creativity that hardcore players have in creating bases and corvettes but that is nothing I would do myself.

This is a good point, there's so much to the game now but it's not very intuitive for new players. I think an update dedicated to creating a guide system for both new and returning players would be smart at this point. BDO did something recently like this with their Olvia Academy and it was a great addition.

When you get this game to work in VR it is pretty cool but getting it to work and run well in VR is an absolute motherfucker.
