There isn't a jump button. You don't time shit. You just hold down A and run forward and it jumps for you.
I'm aware of all this. I played almost all the content in the initial release last year. It just flat out doesn't work--when I run towards the gap the character jumps across and just after landing does a little pirouette and then drops back down to the lower level. Tried everything I could think of to fix it; equip weight, fps cap, vsync, etc. Nothing worked, and as I said yesterday it's not just me, there's posts about it on reddit too.

Doesn't really matter since there's no reason not to skip the ship prologue anyway, it's just a dumb bug that didn't exist before the Breach patch.

I played the tutorial yesterday, once on KBM and once on controller. The jump was no issue on KBM. After falling it 5 times on controller, I remembered reading Vorph Vorph post and said fuck it. Rerolled that character and skipped the tutorial.

Yeah, the game is just not fun at all right now. Every single thing about the combat system and enemy design is terrible. Trash enemies do ridiculous combos that you can't stagger them out of, and the ranged ones are even worse with aimbot like tracking on arrows, molotovs, etc. On the player's end, stamina is still retarded and even if you dump every stat point into it early on you will be unable to even complete a full combo (not that the enemies will allow this) after all the dodging and blocking you have to do to get any opening to attack. None of the weapons are much fun to use anyway.

My experience getting back to town on my new character: I ended up wearing the heaviest armor I could find, just so I could gain access to the LB+RB shoulder slam. Knocking enemies on their asses (or better yet, off a cliff) with that was literally the only way I could win any fights without trading a big chunk of my hp. For weapons, every single one was shit compared to just leaving the slot empty and punching them all to death. Even the actual fist "weapon" you equip was worse than just going barehanded because the second attack of the combo messes everything up. Obviously that's not a sustainable strategy though, since you need scaling and upgrades to continue on past the newbie areas. Killed the boss (which used to be a bitch but this time it was easier than the trash I waded through to get there this time), got back to town, and basically said I have had enough of this and I'm hanging up again for another year.

The boss used to drop a really nice weapon that could carry you through the next several hours at least. No more though. Maybe it's a rare drop now, but he dropped basically nothing useful when I killed it, and I certainly didn't feel like rerolling realms just to try to farm whatever it does drop at some small %. Also the other reason I hung it up is because my knockdown strategy went right out the window with the first enemies I ran into off of the linear path to the boss. Try to hit them with a shoulder charge and they will instantly dodge away 99% of the time.

Oh and the final straw was reading that they are still clinging to the idea that real world timers that take hours to tick down are a good idea in a single player game.

Edit: I almost forgot this one. Purple-rarity items still have massive drawbacks to "balance" the mediocre positives that they have compared to a blue item. I had 3-4 of them drop while getting back to town and not a single one was even remotely worth using due to the negative stat.
I've been beating my head against a wall with this game. I really want to like it but the difficulty is through the roof it seems. I'm level 9, unlocked the town, completed some of the bounties, and got to Derrick but I have now hit a wall. A Dev stated on Steam they are working on a hotfix today to address some of the issues people are having.

Negatives so far
1. Purple loot is not exciting when there's a negative modifier. It's worse when they are overly punishing, Example: Health drain while in combat or reduced stamina.
2. Food: Why does everything require herbs to cook? This creates a major bottleneck.
3. There's a delay which throws off my timing in different situations. Could just be me though. I probably just need to git gud.
4. Arrow / Molotov dudes have insane aim. Molotovs cover a very large area which is hard to avoid.
5. Some enemies appear to over tuned for the level of the zone.

Also, maybe this changes later in the game but since spells work off the weapons and focus. I can't just have a spell for healing to top off my health from a mana pool. This also causes a higher reliance on food but that becomes a bottleneck quickly if you use them too much. I started just choosing to die and run back just to conserve what food I had for major battles.

Vorph, Reddit was saying there is some RNG with the first boss dropping the legendary. I got the two-handed clamore from him but quickly shelved it because it swings so slow and the enemies are just fast. I'm currently using daggers after using the ice pick for a while. I can't seem to find a weapon type I want to invest in.

Are we talking about a jump on the ship or is it to a part of the game I haven't gotten to yet? I'm playing with controller on PC.

The ship in the tutorial. I would land on the edge of the otherside, my character would spin around and fall down.

I didn't encounter a jump issue after the tutorial. The parry system was off, the roll/dodges were off too. Timing was fucked. I have no doubt they will fix it, I will just wait for the patch.

Isn't the game still in alpha or beta? I mean it looks really cool but I guess I kind of have a little of not buying these sort of indie games prior to the full release. It looks awesome but reading some of the stuff you guys are talking about, I guess that's why I don't buy Early Access stuff.

When's the proposed release date?

It's weird, because the initial launch was tits. It was so good a year ago that I put 100 hours in. I will probably give it another whirl tomorrow.

Oh wow I didn't know that. I got a buddy that's been talking about it and real excited for whatever the new update was, but I didn't bug him about information because he flips flops between games so goddamn often trying to push the rest of us into playing whatever thing he wants. We probably all know somebody who does that.

I just thought the game looked really neat but I haven't really been keeping up with it, but all I remember is that it was in alpha or beta or early development or whatever the hell you want to call it, and my thought was just a kind of wait until it hit a 1.0 stage.

I mean it looks really cool and definitely something I would pick up if it's complete.

Based on their track record I have to assume all my concerns will be patched in a week or two. This is the studio that made Ori after all.

I'm not real familiar with that game but the initial information I had about this one made it sound pretty promising that the developer was going whole hog, and trying to be as supportive as possible.

Probably why I'll go ahead and just wait for it to have a full releasse with the hope they'll iron everything out.

I'll check them out I don't really know much about that game. I just don't play it video games like I used to when I was younger, but it's nice to find something fresh if you want to call it that.

It is a metroidvania with platforming and amazing graphics.
I think a last metroidvania game I played was blasphemous, and I loved it even though I sucked at it. It was really great and I got the second one and tried to start playing it but I am not good whatsoever.

Info on the upcoming hotfix:

TLDR They're rolling back some of the things that Breach made worse than before, but it doesn't address a single thing that's fundamentally wrong with the game.

1. Purple items are still garbage by design, this was something made worse in Breach, and their solution to it in the hotfix is to make the items drop less........
2. Enemies still react to the buttons you press before your actions occur. This is why it's almost impossible to hit some enemy types with slow weapons and things like the heavy-weight shoulder charge, and why archers/molotov chuckers very rarely miss.
3. Timers straight out of a P2W mobile game are retarded in a normal single player ARPG. The amount of material farming you have to do is very excessive too. Every time this is brought up the complaint is completely ignored.
4. Stamina is just absurd. Every action uses too much, which practically requires you to spend most/all of your early level-ups on increasing it to even have a hope of dodging and then doing a full combo with your weapon. Not that the infinite stamina, never-flinching enemies will allow that anyway.
5. Blocking with shields reduces damage by such a small amount that it's nearly pointless early on. At most it might make it less likely that really big hits will knock you on your ass, but the damage is so high that you need to dodge those anyway. Parrying is getting fixed supposedly, but personally I think that's the absolute worst play style and I'd be happy to never see another parry button in any game. I hated Sekiro and by the time I got to the end of Lies of P I was pretty close to hating it as well.

I really want to like this game, but I guess it's time to realize that I wasted my money and their "vision" is about as far from what I consider good game design as GGG's is with PoE2. Oh well.

This is really weird—I just played for 30 minutes with almost no issues after switching my graphics settings to the highest possible. Strangely, it performed worse when I had the settings on medium. I have no idea why, but I actually remember this happening to me about a year ago too. I lowered the settings thinking it would improve performance, but it did the opposite. Can anyone explain why that might be?

Well, the hotfix made the game feel better. It solved my food issues and I can backstab again. Overall, I enjoyed playing today went from lvl 9 to 16. I was able to kill the first encounter with Derrick and it was noticably easier since the hotfix. I decided to build into Dex around lvl 14ish and after doing that and upgrading my gear, which I hadn't done, made things a whole lot smoother also.
