something weird going on with zen 4 line, this website benchmarks figured out games run faster with half the cores in a 7950x disabled. Something to do with half the cores run faster and interconnect speeds mean its better just disabling half your CPU

i'm thinking more and more the ideal PC to build out in the next 6 months is a 5950x3d and a cheap 30xx GPU ($500-600), that should be close to top end performance for at least a year or two and by then CPUs should be better and we'll probably get a decent 4070 ti. Plus you can get cheaper DDR4 memory and splurge on 64gb (or more) and get a big ass nvme drive or two.

i think thats gonna be my plan, it really is time to retire my 5 year old 1080ti and 6700k.

So does anyone have a 4090 yet? I thought $1600 was retarded, but it seems the only ones listed on Amazon are $2500.

No fucking way. I'll play console games the rest of my life in that case.

Just find it hard to justify a 3080ti or 3090ti at $1200ish, with the 4090 so much better listed at $1600

I think most of us are waiting to see what AMD has to offer before we drop that much cash.

I would wait, for the 3.0 ATX Power supply's.. it seems those cables that PS makers are using are just putting the card in flat 600w mode..

Also maybe a AIO Cooler will be avail by then.. so the card can actually be used without buying a whole new case, or hacking you're current case apart.. rofl

I mean we've linked 3090ti's around here for like 899. But I mean, of course, if you're not in a rush - wait.

I don't see the point until some actual good games come out that need the power, plus I love SFF cases so that's going to be a no for me dawg unless I watercool it.

assuming this is not a joke, new NVIDIA driver borks the map in CP2077 and the 'hotfix' is fix it yourself.

Unfortunately aside some unicorn PC exclusives or just "higher PC settings" were stuck int he PS5 and Xbox X era right now which is like a bit better than a 1080ti if that? And pretty much all games except indie games are made for all 3 or exclusives for each with the consoles being what games are designed for first.

I am only interested in the FE or a pre-blocked gpu. Bestbuy was kind of a dumpster fire on release so didn’t grab anything. Motherboards are extremely pricey right now as well so I’m not included yet to move from my z690 Xtreme to anything else. I wanted all AMD but all the boards are over priced aside from Asrock.

Card showed up today, got the AMD drivers removed and Nvidia installed. Card is large, but not super crazy compared to the 6800xt. Installed and ready for me to put it through it's paces more this evening. Extremely quiet, cool and not near the power hog I was expecting. Ran a few benches at lunch and did a stress test and all seems good so far.

Plague Tale Requiem will be a good test at 4k tonight as it looks like it's a bear to run.

I ordered a new system. Be here in around two weeks I think.

Going from

32gb ddr4 ram, i7 6700k, 1080

to

32gb ddr5 ram, i9 12900, 4090

Figured I'd do some benchmarks before and after. Any regular ones I should try (free)?
