ya, these comp build gurus on youtube are saying that 32gb is enough, but they don't understand that this is going to be my comp for the next 10 flippin' years. I've never upgraded shit and I'm not going to start. In the mid 2030s, when we have coal-powered hoverboards, i'll build a new comp to replace this new one. I'm tempted to do 128gb ram and maybe the 48gb intel gpu that's going around the rumor mill.

The next few months should be interesting

Ended up going with a Gigabyte Windforce 5070ti over the 9070xt - got it installed today, running well, now I need to sell my 3080 Ti FE and upgrade my CPU.

I’m considering a 5060 16 GB or a 5070 12 GB. I play in 1440p w/ a 165 hz monitor. Typically don’t like frame generation (adds latency), but am fine with DLSS.

I’m leaning more towards the 5070 12 GB bc I think by the time games go over 12 GB, the 5060 might be too slow and the 5070 will hold better resell value.

not sure, yet. 5070 is $605, 5060 16 GB is about $500.

any advice?

Mostly to play Helldivers II in 1440p on high settings. I’ve got $700 in gift cards for amazon to use. I want Nvidia not AMD bc I have a Lenovo legion go with egpu dock, and I don’t have to worry about driver issues between AMD igpu and Nvidia gpu.

Get a 9070 XT.

I added an edit I think by the time you replied. But I have a Lenovo legion go with an egpu dock. If I use amd it’s a huge mess with drivers and the built in AMD gpu for the Lenovo legion go.

I’ve heard Nvidia is much easier for lenovo legion go and I want as less hassle as possible.

9070 XT are 800-900 on amazon, and I’m using an amazon gift card ($700).

At my work we get peer awards and one of the options is redeeming them for Amazon gift cards so I get it.
yea for maybe $100?

$700 is like

"mam you need to give me the amazon gift card number or your electricity will be turned off"
call center vibe

I think I'm leaning more towards the 5070 RTX for $605 on Amazon.

If it were a 5070 TI for $700, I'd do that, but they aren't on Amazon for under $1000. Likewise, I'd rather just get a 4070 Super, but I cant find those anywhere online.

Honestly this price bump is worth it:

$869 - in stock and they can ship to you.

I found this MSI one for $899 on Amazon.

I'm wondering though, is an additional $300 really worth the performance increase? In a practical sense, could you pitch how the performance would differ between the two?

If you run 4k you will want to move that route (Or if any plans to) - If staying 1440p base 5070 would be fine. At 4k you would get a 28% bump in performance.

So that means any plans to try connecting into a 4k home theater area or if you ever upgrade to a 4k gaming monitor.

I strongly doubt you need to upgrade if playing 4k videos only.

Doing my daily check, my best buy let me order a 5090, -3k, but wont have it in hand for a week. How well does it run 1080p?

I just run 1440p w/ a 165 hz monitor at 1 ms latency.

I did try plugging my XSX up to my tv a few days ago (Sony X90J 4K 8 ms latency) and the latency was so noticeable I just switched back to my gaming monitor in my office.

Well, Helldivers 2 in 2k 5070 is fine but 4k would want the Ti.
