I wager 9/10 builders who never had issues are going to curse the day they have to start building Win11 machines.
Current build 2/24 Win 11 no issues. Didn't do the last major Windows update and I will not as long as it's still optional. I'm currently getting parts to go from RGB Yeet to a Fractal North XL & Noctua fan refresh. Last 2 PC's were RGB, I thought it looked neat. Now I'm pretty much over it.

Built my current computer in December 2021 at 51, had no issues. I’d build again, but can see there coming a time where I’d let someone else do it.

Some of you might remember these guys from the old ads in 90's gaming mags. They're still around and their build quality is top notch, my third rig from them is currently being built.

That's the other thing.

I just don't have the time/patience required to make my build as "clean" as a lot of the prebuilt shit. Mine is clean...enough. But I possess nowhere near the levels of autism required for how pristine a lot of them look.
They do make nice builds. Falcon Northwest are nice but significantly more expensive.

Basically why nothing will change, they bundle these high in demand GPU with a bunch of crap and desperate gamers with more money then sense, buy it just to get a GPU.

Why do people like to build their computers with 6-15930 LGB lights, especially on the fans? I just don't get it.

I honestly don’t see the need for a 5xxx series over a 4xxx. Seems like a waste of money for 99% of people. But, here we are, watching the masses go nuts trying to get one.

FOMO is a dangerous thing. That and people who want it just to brag to others they have one.

There is a small minority that actually need one because they play modern games on 4k monitors with 240 refresh rates. So its an actual improvement(what 20%?) over a 4090 and they can probably sell their used 4090 to make up some of the cost(considering demand).

Eh, there's plenty of people just building new computers and needing GPUs at the moment. And people who skipped the 40 series trying to upgrade their 20 and 30 series.

It's still hard to get 9800X3Ds for example, and those came out 3 months ago.

Last pre-built pc I bought was at the BX in Okinawa Japan in the 90's, a Sony VAIO lol. I even modified that thing a bit before I trashed it and built my own. I love building my own pc's. Current one is a stealth build in a Lian Li case with an RTX 4090, 7800X3D and 32 Gigs of Ram a 2TB and 1TB SSD's. I used to swear by AIO coolers for the CPU but went back to air cooled for peace of mind. Usually takes me a week of research to make sure all the pieces are going to work together before I pull the trigger, but I like doing that. Building pc's is stupid easy these days. Just stay away from the RGB rats' nest puke rainbow shit and the wiring is easy. Going to be 51 in April and as long as I have my eyesight, I'll keep on building them.

Still build my own but I moved away from always buying the top end stuff, I want the system quiet most of all and using midrange parts that have much lower TDP there is less heat to deal with so less fan rpm needed. Currently running a 6 year old i5-9500 and a 4070 and it still runs just fine at 1080, 80+ fps in anything I play.

4k is a bit of a trap in that you need serious hardware to get high fps, I bit the bullet and went back to 1080p. Everything looked shit for about 2 days, then I stopped noticing it so I guess it really didn't matter all that much after all.

I have a 32 inch 4k on main PC, and a 32 inch 1080 on my 3rd PC for watching things while I work. I sit a bit beyond arm's length from it, and occasionally play GF's D4 account on it. It isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I wouldn't want to use the monitor for work, but for screwing around with, it's fine.

Is it really news that a percentage of people have more money than sense as they used to say? A lot of industries or at least segments of industries that revolve and market around that. I know it's highly lunpopular to say nowdays, but what is unbelievably expensive for some people is just "meh" or others.

I am ultra lazy but the last PC I bought was from Custom Gaming Computers, Laptops & Notebooks | XOTIC PC . I've bought a number of their laptops as well.

Since I only use Mac Laptops now and have a Steamdeck. I've periodically replaced all of the components of that same PC since 2012. So its like a PC of Theseus now as I've replaced every component. Even the case lol.

"But the meme image is a 5090 sir..."

The video from the PSU tester guy and the post from Johnny Guru about it being "impossible" for 1-2 wires to carry 22amps was infuriating when I saw and read them yesterday. I'm not an electrical engineer, but I know enough about electricity to be scared of what it is possible of.

As someone elsewhere said, "If it's impossible for a wire to carry that much current, we wouldn't need circuit breakers."
You need circuit breaker so you know where it will break, and won't burn your house down. Old school circuit breaker are just thin cable calibrated to x numbers of amp. People would bridge them with tin foil.

Mine's in a box that gets shoved as deeply under my desk as possible. I don't need a rave going on down there like it's still 1995 when I'm just trying to beat off in peace.
