Also I have a 5070 ti I need to sell if anyone’s interested. It’s a Zotac and runs great, smallish and quiet. Looking for around 600

I read that earlier. Said the company kept it. Wasn't clear as if the company wanted it or had ethics issues with a "payoff" of a gift while on company time.

The girl (intern) was "forced to resign" and kept the 5060.

Seems like communist brain is still alive in China, although the girl's unwillingness to surrender the card show signs of capitalism.

Interns are mostly paid in 'valuable real world experience' and 'opportunity for advancement', so that doesn't surprise me much. I dunno on the commie/capitalism front though - CEO takes money from his peasants valued employees for personal gain is pretty peak capitalism ;p

Jokes aside, they probably have a company policy limit on the value of acceptable gifts which the card exceeded. Most western companies do as part of anti-bribery/corruption practice.

Is it just me or funny in that press release? They thank the consumers who put their name on the map with a release that basically says "Sorry consumers we're done with you".

Yep that is right up there with the insurance renewal quote I got from Progressive today that gave me 'Loyalty Points' and and 18% increase for no reason.

To be clear, Micron will just stop selling finished products under their own brand (Crucial), component sales to others (like a G-skill or whomever) will continue...

... at least, until their contracts are up, then we'll see.

Now, if you want to talk about secondary effects of AI bubbles fucking over the tech market, you should be mentioning things like this - https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-com...-the-die-forced-to-source-memory-on-their-own

Namely, that memory prices are so silly that Nvidia's washing their hands of it and making board partners find their own, so instead of Nvidia being able to go to Samsung and order 50 million ram sets for their boards this gen, now after a Zotec gets a million 5070 cores (or whatever) from Nvidia, they then have to go to Samsung / SKHynix / Micron and negotiate 1 million ram sets to go with that. There's zero chance the smaller negotiated order would be the same cost, even if prices were stable.

How do they plan on us using ai if no one can afford the hardware that requires it to run?

Imagine needing to buy a laptop or pc for your employees at a company. This is going to fuck up a lot of industries, I just hope it crushes EA and Blizzard first.

I imagine ram will get hyper expensive in short term but market will correct and in some time will become dirt cheap again. Not a great time to need pc parts, though.

The near future? The Nvidia CEO explained this in Rogan. While you wont have the latest and greatest AI that the mega corps have, i.e. GPT 50.0, you will probabaly have GPT 48.5 on your phone or other device and it will do 98% of what the latest does. The thing with the power and all that he also explained but I do not remember, go watch Rogan. The dude actually had a pretty impressive and holy shit story about founding Nvidia.

I was joking, I dont want any of that shit.

Its not just the ram, everything is so damn expensive they'll likely kill most industries because people can barely afford anything right now.

It'll get worse when it starts replacing jobs. If youre not in a good place financially currently you're likely fucked your entire life at this point.
