Winning a tournament does not prove skill....winning multiple large field tournaments does. To me, the difference is that you need to rely on reads (mainly betting patterns, not nose twitches) to survive and thrive over time in tournaments. You have to stay alive to win. Of course there is a lot to do with luck and chance, but you can't negate those highs and lows in tournaments like you can in cash games.

The reason I find grinding cash games so boring is because you play them hand by hand. If you just play your chance to hit and pot odds every hand, you're going to end up coming out ahead if you play cards long enough. The discipline is recognizing your own tilt.

I still use % to hit (literally the same quick calc that wooly described) and pot odds to make decisions in tournaments, but I don't live & die by them like I do in cash games. The other person's chip stack also plays a much bigger part in my decisions in tournaments than it does in cash games.

I vastly prefer multi table tournaments. Some of the best times I've had are coming back from being a handful of blinds away from busting out and turning it around to being one of the chip leaders a few tables later. Realistically, you have to start shipping pretty loosely when you get that short stacked so I can't claim it as being anything other than luck. The last couple of tables though usually do start to feature some real skill. Especially when stack size is relatively even.

Where can you play online (US) for real money though? A forum game would be great.

I used to play most nights after work, and got some nice extra spending money. Wish I had spent all my full tilt points before they got shut down.

This... I regret posting my pics in the Wizardhawk VS Camerous fight thread sort of kinda.

PS: Wooly, if you are better than everyone except Phil Ivey then you should probably be making a lot more than $83 on casino days... (Play 30k pots online but you play 1-2 with the min buy-in live??? Lol)

I'm pretty sure he was referring to a per hour wage, as he previously mentioned 250 an hour online.

In the list of weird things and Wooly, I would probably rank that one pretty low.

Yeah wait a minute. Another red flag. a 300k+ house with stained bedding and a PC in his room...

Makes sense!

I don't have many "any situation" strategies, but I will ALWAYS ship or fold if I'm <12bb.

Full size bed, computer in room, roommates are parents, autistic nip with a neckbeard. Exactly what I'd imagine his life to look like.

Definitely retarded, definitely.

This is why I started the thread. Wooly came in and Lumie/Mippo'd it up and now it is the "make Wooly say increasingly autistic shit" thread.

I think that Bodog's U.S. site is called Bovada. I am going to attempt a deposit in the next week or so. I'll report back.

Just FYI, I play 1/2 Limit and NL Hold'em almost exclusively. I may branch out into microstakes Omaha if I can make this work.

Foreals though....who is setting up a rere rolled tournament? Where do I sign up?

Do we need to find somewhere to do it for play chips and let our trusted @a_skeleton_03 hold the buy in in escrow?
