After surprisingly watching a lot of the World Cup, I must say I love the changes they made for e-sport.

The team uniforms are nice, but what made it so much easier to follow for me is the UI colors, and the effects color matching the uniform, you're seeing the play from the perspective of a player and the color of the UI tells you immediately which team he is on without having to check the name.

Also seeing Winston's bubbles, or Orisa's shield being the color of the team makes it easy to understand what's happening. It's really more fun to watch now. Still and extremely fast game though, and things happen so fast that you still miss a lot.

Replays are nice, the overhead map is nice too, I wish they used it more...maybe even keep it up in a corner. I think the caster and camera operators didn't have time to really get use to the new tools. I might even follow the OWL, which I didn't really intend to, although I have no team to really cheer for...Canada being in the World Cup and making it to the final certainly kept me interested. :)

Of the 5 new heroes, 1 is male and 4 are female.

However, the original cast was 13-8.

So now there are 14 male and 12 female heroes.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Moira was a tranny, making it 14-11-1
Tracer is a tranny..

I'm pretty impressed with the esports production of the world cup. Numbers are good too just looking at twitch, hope it keeps growing. Like many games I hate playing this shit but I love watching competitive.

Outside the David Bowie references, I get some heavy heavy Hisoka from Moira. Hoping she gets a magician skin of some sort.

Korea was a much better team. From what I heard team Canada had hard time to scrim together. World cup in general was very fun to watch and I'm kinda hyped for what to come.

I actually like Moira's aesthetic. I get she's not super attractive, but that's fine imo.

We already have a ton of attractive female characters, it's pretty cool to have a somewhat creepy looking character.

I still can't believe that there's a professional Overwatch League. Then again I have a hard time wrapping my brain around esports in general, and yet there is certainly a market there.

I think one reason esports do well (beyond the demographic) is they have embraced the new mediums (internet vs. TV) and they are easier to watch in chunks/smaller periods of time and on your own time. A typical baseball or football game will last many hours. In esports, a series of matches could potentially be resolved much more quickly (excluding DOTA, those BO3 or 5 can last as long as a pro sports game lol...although DOTA has the most $$$$$$$ in these tournaments).

Another reason eSports is taking off is simple:

It's what kids play now.

Sports use to be the main form of entertainment, kids either sat home watching cartoons all day, or you played sports.

Now kids sit home playing computer games all day... and it's competitive, like Sports...

In another 50 years I wouldn't be surprised at all if many physical sports start to grow much smaller (reduce teams/league size) or lose major markets to esport teams

World Cup was pretty much first time I actually watched e-sports seriously, and that was because Canada was playing, watched all their games. Didn't watch anything else though. I also watched because I enjoy Overwatch. Now I doubt I will watch any OWL, no local team so no real interest in that sense.

I might watch a game here and there that people will link here saying it was awesome, but I doubt it will be much more than that. Now if Montreal had a team, or even if there was a team in Canada I might have some interest but right now that's not the case.

I did enjoy the World Cup though, it is fun to watch.

The league games should be a bit higher level. You'll see fewer mistakes, more planned set up plays, and hopefully some specialists subbing in and out like runaway / dallas have been doing.

Should be great, can't wait!
