I hate flagged zones. I think the 'keeping out' should be done by mobs kicking your butt.
I like flagged progression that has meaning and follows some type of storyline. Its about the only time I ever pay attention to quest details becasue you are forced into the story so much =p

and likely some other more sophisticated means by which you can group certain players or mobs together for whatever reason you come up with.
Virtual groups. Nice. I assume a raid healer can setup a virtual group of all tanks/off-tanks.

^^ Kinda touched on an important aspect ^^

FUCK armor dyes!! I absolutely loathed their implementation. I loved when you could just look at a character (without inspecting) and know how geared they were. Here's two warriors LFG? One is in a spattering of orange and the other is in full yellowish brown? I will take the PoHate geared warrior over mr bronze armor. Nevermind that fact you also ended up with hot pink / rainbow colored idiots running around.
Psssshh. You guys are so male! I like altering my appearance. It's fun to slaughter things whilst wearing a skirt! /duck

I wish it was that easy. Not sure how long you played, but as a raider it sucked ass to deal with the hundreds of flat out lousy players in say, BOT, so we would head to POF. It was a breath of fresh air to not have to deal with all the horrible players.

Oh and for buying armor sets on a pre-release kickstarter, nothing would crack me up more than logging into the game and seeing people who spent $1000 buying an armor set that I'll outlevel in a few days.

Even if StarCitizen is amazing I think most people will regret paying as much as they have toward it.
what if your armor leveled with you?

Just make the game how you think it should be made. Use what you have learnt from EQ, VG and what's on the current market. I think everyone doesn't want to see a WoW clone or some promise of a 4 billion server bank bull shit. Have your design, keep to it, when it's released, even if it's to a niche market, you can guarantee it will be a success if you don't give in to the hand-holding cry baby market.

Your fault for starting the thread. No good deed goes unpunished, and etc.
Look, I'm a sucker for the visionary that helped bring me some of the realms I love most. Oh well, not like I have much else better to do. Let's see how many posts I filter through before throwing in the towel.

Please bring back trains!
And dangerous, higher level mobs in lowbie zones. "Who is Froon? <smush>", Varsoon the Undying and Holly Windstalker, D'vinn and the griffin in the Commonlands, etc. all added to the sense of danger and excitement, as well as place. Even the low level world was dangerous. The whole dynamic of leveling in Oasis on crocs in your late teens with the sand giants and spectres just a stone's throw away was incredibly tense and exciting. Lockjaw spawning and pulling every together for fun and loot was amazing.

So, anyone else feel like that concept art looks very... I dunno... Lich Kingy?
It's been said, but I feel like I could look up any number of super armor, sword wielding kings in a similar position. At least he's not lazily slouching because he's oh so tired of being a god-king.

I loved that shit. Those were little touches that made the world feel less narrow.

Yes, and it's even possible that in order to achieve your next level, that you'll have to go through a dungeon, perhaps one that wouldn't let you in before, and complete some 'Achievements' in order to advance. Like I've hinted in the past, our Achievement system will be integrated into how you reach your next level, unlike other games where they're just 'cool' to unlock.Unlocking them in Pantheon will have meaning.
this is very good. I am liking pretty much all of what he's said so far.
Your class meaning something again, achievements meaning something... Maybe races mattering again. And skill... Giving people a reason to play and feel "special" and accomplished and challenged...
Very exciting stuff.

My list..

1. Instance vs. Non-Instance (and I'm not totally against it but I do feel as previously stated below...)
instancing is a contradiction to the genre. How can you be immersed in a world that is separate from the world itself. The whole point of an MMO is to exist in a world that is occupied and being changed by the players. You may as well play Diablo or a console RPG that is built either for you or your group of friends. It's a Massive Multi-Player Online game right? Its not that massive if we all segregate into small groups for our crawling pleasure. I know an open world comes with frustrations and several inconveniences but why would you buy a game where thousands or even million of players exist if you didn't want to deal with them?
2. Travel / Porting / LFG Mechanics (i.e. will I be instantly ported to my group or have ports within a guild hall or some type of hub)
3. Death Penalty
4. Pulling
5. Raid Cap
6. Appearance Slots
7. Micro-transactions
8. Raid Zones vs. Raid Encounters (Thinking of zones/instances that simply has a raid mob with a few adds and/or trash vs. setups such as Sol B, Sebilis, or even Dreadlands that have solo, group, and raid opportunities all in one zone.)

I edited all of Aradune's post that I thought were important into one page on reddit.

Mega thread on ReRolled : pantheonrotf

My list of thinks to want-
-- A complex system of crafting (you can copy Vanguard for crafting and harvesting as far as I'm concerned).
-- random high(er) level elite mobs in lower level areas. Running, plotting, hating those mobs is fun. Especially when you come back and kill them.
-- Appearance slots.
-- I LOVE offensive and defensive targets.
-- I LOVE advancing your character in different ways through HARD pursuits.
-- Non-instanced. Really, loved Vanguard had no instances.
-- (added) I want a plate class that is a DPS class, not tank

His posts tonight (paraphrasing) about yes Clerics are clerics , no multiclassing to silly levels stuff ,

and the remark about we don't want whiny bitches who want WoW or to fundamentally change the game's premise to be voting on anything are awesome.

It seems like he's serious about not giving a shit about the people who don't want an EQ/VG'ish game.
