And if you want EQ for the iPhone, then more power to ya.They do, for mobile devices, all the time. Check out an app store. Antiquated notions like side scrolling platform games and turn-based combat RPGs are still in demand.

Yeah but in reality was this ever really about a true EQ clone? He never mentioned an EQ clone. What he mentioned is bringing back some of the old principles like focused content for grouping no instancing, in a more modern game etc... no one ever on that team ever mentioned "EQ clone."authentic recreation of EQ?
In a perfect world..The reason is suddenly everyone wants old school PVP game instead of PVE ?
I heard they make EQ in a browser now.And if you want EQ for the iPhone, then more power to ya.
While several desired this, no rational person expected it to be this. However, when you start throwing out "a return to old school mechanics" crossing certain thresholds, such as radar and dungeon finders are generally regarded as running counter to the "old school" philosophy, and are then considered controversial points when the entire selling point behind the game was exclusion of such luxuries.authentic recreation of EQ
I never thought it would be , I got the vibe closer to VG2 than EQ3 , which I would be fine with.Yeah but in reality was this ever really about a true EQ clone? He never mentioned an EQ clone. No, that is incorrect. The further away you get from the core principles of the game the easier is it to add/drop different mechanics to make the game more accessible toeveryone, which is what we want to avoid. I thought Vanguard was done very well and its certainly not a direct clone of Everquest. I simply want the core mechanics to remain in place and work around those ideals. The minute you start adding maps, and dungeon finders, and alters to get your corpse back it creates a snowball effect next thing ya know its fucking Rift or GW2, trying to be everything to everyone.Yeah but in reality was this ever really about a true EQ clone? Its only what the idiots HERE want.
EQ didn't know it was pvpeautiful, that's what made it pvpeautiful!EQ wasn't about PVP
Haha you think the KS ending will stop this thread? Uh hello they have a website to accept donations where they charge a monthly sub for access to "private forums".I can't wait until the kickstarter is over so the negativity here goes away... the bullshit that is being said here by many is more outrageous and ridiculous than the lousy kickstarter tiers were ( that caused the KS to shit in the first place ).. The tiers sucked and they were not ready for this that much is obvious outside of that you guys are really just piling your own shit onto this project...
Look forward to you getting bored of it !
Bullshit, no one ever mentioned any "core principals" other than focused on grouping and challenge. The rest of the shit was made up by you and dumar in your heads. No, that is incorrect. He didn't post on his own Kickstarter site for over a week and suddenly tweeted out randomly asking for angel investors.I can't wait until the kickstarter is over so the negativity here goes away... the bullshit that is being said here by many is more outrageous and ridiculous than the lousy kickstarter tiers were ( that caused the KS to shit in the first place ).. Why doesn't everyone also factor the team involved here as to why there are only 2800 backers. Jacobs doesn't have the albatross of Vanguard latched to him either.Pretty much this.
Using Jacob's CU as a comparison shows that yes , the quality of the KS does play a huge role in this. Jacobs got 15k people to give over 2 million for an old school PVP game.
EQ (and PVE in general over PVP for mmos) both have far more fans than DAOC ever did, yet Brad's failure of a KS can't get 3k backers.
The reason is suddenly everyone wants old school PVP game instead of PVE ?
(while I'm a pvp whore and would love this to be the case , I know it is not)
Well to be fair , if you do that you are tagged as a "Champion" on said forums , makes all the difference in the world.Haha you think the KS ending will stop this thread? Uh hello they have a website to accept donations where they charge a monthly sub for access to "private forums".
Wha?Jacobs doesn't have the albatross of Vanguard latched to him either.
Did you miss the last 600 pages? You know, core principles like corpse runs, long leveling curves, no fast travel, wizard/druid porting, large dungeons, forced grouping etc....Stick to those and build the game around these principles.Bullshit, no one ever mentioned any "core principals" other than focused on grouping and challenge. The rest of the shit was made up by you and dumar in your heads.
That's all that needs to be said about why this thing is tumbling down, really. If I pushed a engine that ran on water on Kickstarter, with bernie madoff as the CEO and a napkin sketch someone else created for an unrelated product years ago as my only tangible asset, then stated it ran only on salt water, then only fresh water, then on gasoline, and then that the money will go to paying myself and bernie for setting up the KS and not said product I don't think I'd get to far either. That doesn't mean people wouldn't want a water-powered engine.
Are you referring to Warhammer? The difference is everyone attributes EA to that, nobody attributes SOE to the launch of Vanguard.Wha?
While McQuaid fucked 250,000 out of $60, Jacobs fucked 800,000 people out of $60. The only problem is that McQuaid is a bit more well known than Jacobs ever was.
