Golf carts are taking over here too. And I’m with Cad, they look stupid in them.

You let them burn themselves and drop dinner all over the floor.

IMO they learn and you’re not cursing … but I dont curse with the kids so.. after telling them thrice, they need to learn. You cant go through life where you expect people to curse you out and only then pay attention to them… even adhd peeps.

Eldest daughter turned 13. We've delayed Instagram for this long. The pressure is high now, legal age for it over here is 13. I think I've read there is a teen profile till they're 16, restricting some content. She's a child in the apple ecosystem / parent setup so far. Gawd help me.

EDIT: bah, I have to be a supervisor and also have an account. Fml.

In all seriousness, absolutely “No”. There is a ton of evidence that social media is very damaging to teens, especially girls. She isn’t missing anything by not having it, it’s garbage.

Relevant:

"The average 20-year-old today scores lower on conscientiousness and higher on neuroticism than 70 percent of all people did just 10 years ago.

These aren’t abstract measures. Conscientiousness—traits like following through on plans and persevering with tasks—strongly predicts professional success and life satisfaction. The changes are substantial and consistent across the data."

Did they do the same study on other age ranges? I feel like the internet has been indiscriminate in it's harmfulness.

Yes. The effect is worse on the youngest cohorts. Keep in mind looking at this chart that it's not tracking a fixed group of people across time. The average moves because people are being born/aging into each cohort with less desirable attribute combinations.

I wonder if that's because 40-59 grew up without an internet or if it's just purely age. A comparison to similarly distracting device like the television might be interesting if the data exists.
