I was finally able to buy some decent gear on the market place, so many items for sale. Made things actually killable in a cast or two. But, this game makes some retarded decisions. As I progress in the story my character gets...weaker? -10% resists across the board because fuck you that's why? Admittedly I'm still early on , lvl 40 in Act 3, but it's taking the wind out of my sails lol.
Wait until you do your ascendancies, that's easily the shittiest part of the game. I still have to do my fourth one after trying to get a handful of times. I'm just trying to over level it as much as possible.

Once you hit end game, the resistance shit stops and that's nice, but it a pain through leveling.

Your character gets weaker as you progress through the campaign much like almost every arpg when you jump difficulties (normal/nightmare/hell, or whatever system the game uses). It's countered by the fact that you get better gear, more abilities, etc.

Actually how important is corrupted blood immunity in POE2? I've had it on some boots, but really need to lose it to fix some resistances and still be able to wear a Ventors. Is it just ultimatum or is it pretty common?
Update: the stabby stabby rares in breaches will hit you with corrupted blood. Probably worth getting immunity if you plan on running unstable +rares strat.

Also look out of for the CB runes in Expeditions, don't want that transferring if you don't have immunity.

There's a rune that makes enemies turn into an exploding glob that chases you when it dies. Blow open crag in expedition that spawns literally 50 ants. Hilarity and death ensues.

Yes but at least in games like Diablo, they leave it as an option to jump difficulties. And warn you "hey you can increase rewards, but you lose all this armor and resistances".

Now I just have to waste time with resistances, just not fun to me and in my opinion a retarded thing to have in game that gets worse each act. I guess my brain has an aversion to negative progress.

Because having the resistances stay the same through the whole game using end game values, they would be either way too fucking high to raise in act 1-2-3 or if they lowered them to act1 values through the whole game, they would be too trivial to cap by end game where a single item could cap your resistances. So they chose to raise them bit by bit act by act.

Besides, aside act 1, and having a bit of cold and fire res, resistances mean fuck all. I mean they do but many of us level with shit resistances and do well until end game where we fix them item by item.

Here is my act 3 merc, I have not died yet and the only twinky shit hes got on is a xbow that I got lucky crafting 200DPS.

BTW, I dont care who you roll, you should always level with armor instead of the other defense types. Its the only defense with values that actually do something during campaign. The others like ES and Evasion do come online, but way later when you can stack mega numbers. Mitigating 50%-70% of the phys dmg coming in is way fucking better defense then evading 20% or whatever value you can get on evasion. And ES you will just not have enough to do fuck all until end game where you can use multipliers on tree and gear to mega juice your ES rating.

Resistances during leveling don't matter. It might get you like 1-2 deaths max. You need to learn to dodge anyways. At 11k ES, max resistance and lich damage reduction there is still shit that one shots me. Learning mechanics is way more important than resistance during the campaign.

A low end Atziri's Splendour with no life cost passive and plenty of Resist Soul Cores quickly fixes up resists without much cost at 65. By level 80, you'll want to replace it with one that has max crit and 700+ ES - but again, a low roll one is still pretty powerful.

My Abyssal Lich has a pretty good chunk of damage bypass her shield for life damage, but her passive stating that life cannot change while there is an Energy Shield means that all of that damage never gets applied. Its stupid powerful and I wish I would have specced into that a lot earlier than I did. Cause I can basically walk into and around shit without a care now. (Except, as was said - when a boss lands a one shot on you.)
