Does anyone actually think all the sword stuff does NOT sound clunky as hell? I'm willing to hear you out.

Yes if you overgear the content by leaps and bounds you can one button press something to kill everything, but that applies to every skill in the game.

I mean that's everything in PoE2, there's a lot of button presses, and you can remove some with proper gear/build but it'd make no sense for swords to just be single skills with no synergy when the entire game is designed around them. They always overdo the synergies in these videos but I think some of these looked fine enough, the blade stuff looked simple enough and might be able to skip the whole lightning part so it's just "spread blades then pop them" gameplay which is fine. A bunch of the synergies were also basically "you only use this for boss to scale damage further" shit like a large part of the whirlwind stuff.

As for 0.5.5 yeah it's pretty shit, no balance pass means there's no real reason to both with it for me, the rewards are also not really that good so easy skip. The Trial of Chaos rework also misses the biggest issue with endgame trials, they take way too fucking long, and no shot they're changing it when they literally reworked it to let you do 30rooms in a row so I guess they're happy it takes a whole fucking hour to get your endgame trial done, shit's fucking annoying. The fixes are good for the rest of stuff but I just wanted to get a 15-20mins trial when it's the 4th one I'm doing on that char, not making sure I can get more currency doing the thing I'm doing just to unlock my ascendancy even if it gave nothing.

we'll have to see how it works out in practice, but they did make a bunch of changes to speed the trials up:
  • Trialmaster only freezes you once per run instead of each wave
  • elevators are way faster and more stable
  • pathing between rooms is significantly shortened
  • way higher chance that the room is just "kill all monsters" instead of escort the hovering pillar, survive X minutes, or bring the thingy back to the altars
  • nerfed debuffs means you won't be as hamstrung so should speed up the run
Each little changes by themselves, but taken together, it should add up to meaningful time savings.

I actually like the sound of the end game buffs for farming chaos temple, sounds like you can juice currency quite a bit.

Oh wow, that sounds like actually pretty good changes. I've only ever run it a handful of times I guess after I got all my ascendencies on my two characters just to sell the little key pieces for a quick currency infusion. I don't mind it but every now and then you'll get one where you got to take the stupid blood pyramid death ray or something horrible.

I might actually try to farm that guy now, if I could remember what the hell is the super duper drop. That's the biggest problem I sometimes have is I don't remember what the hell activity is supposed to maybe get you whatever chase item, and I have to constantly go look it up.

Nooo my money making cash cow is going to get shredded. I was minting mirrors in poe2, like way richer than I ever get in poe1, because I have the ability to turn my brain off and chain run trials (hundreds to thousands) , almost severance style. Making them less painful means adorned isn’t going to jackpot the way it used to

The more I thought about it, the less I feel it's a good idea to try to play at launch.

The fact they're cramming every single balance change, rework, new class, new weapon, new league(ish I assume they'll go light on that), endgame reworks based on 0.5 feedback, new campaign bosses and places all at once into 1.0 which will also have way more people than even the most hyped league due to fully being free this time(they've been doing free weekends lately but not the same still). And then after all of that, they picked the week before christmas to release even though they literally did that last year and completely fucked it up.

Just feels like they're setting themselves for their biggest fuckup yet. It won't be horrible, the game is sure to be fun to play, but I just can't see anything but the first few weeks being a huge mess.

Even better, they get like 400 days off around Christmas because they're from NZ and lazy as shit. They're notorious for releasing something around the Holidays and then just going MIA while the house burns.

The sword combo stuff just sounds so unnecessarily complex for no reason to me.

They are releasing Dec 11 which is like 10+ days before xmas. Not Dec 23. So they will have plenty of time to fix the blatant broken shit which always shows up within a day, two, or three of the release.
