Deathwing

Seems more like patching a core design issue instead of fixing the core issue itself(boring maps, too many waystones). Hmmm, that feels familiar. Maps too big? More checkpoints. Too much backtracking? Sprinting.Commanders here solve a few issues. First issue is how tedious running plain maps to get to a new point of interest can be whether it be a citadel or league mechanic. They'll also let you burn through all your waystones since once you reach a certain level, you always have more waystones then you can run. They do this in real time so you just set it up before you go to bed or work or when you're grinding something else. It looks like a purely optional mechanic as well, so if you don't like it, don't use it.
The "purely optional" response is used in discussion of Kingsmarch mechanics too. And I agree, it's purely optional. PoE1 and PoE2 are so overflowing with rewards that it makes it hard to truly judge the "optionality" of some mechanics.
But, that's not the point. I would be more vociferous if felt required, but I still object to it on the "gameplay" itself.
